Percy Pack: What Percy Means to Me and a Special Contest

Can you believe it's been 10 years since Book 1 in The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan was published. Time flies.

I'm happy to be part of the Percy pack because of my history with the books. What does this mean? Well for the next six months, you'll occasionally see posts on Percy Jackson filled with news, re-reviews, and a cool giveaway.

I read and reviewed The Lightning Thief for a website that no longer exists. And I loved it! I remember getting a note in the mail and this shirt as thanks for reviewing. I had no idea how much I would come to cherish both.

Shirt signed by Rick for me later
Remember that this was the original cover?

Meeting Rick
In 2009, I had the chance to finally meet Rick Riordan at a librarian event.
Rick Riordan
He was entertaining, enlightening, and charming. You check out some highlights of his presentation
39 Clues just came out and he was willing to post for a read poster, which I created and hung in the library for years.

At the Library, we hosted a Mythology Bee program thanks to Disney-Hyperion for educational packet. The tweens at the library had a blast. We also used the Lightning Thief to launch our very successful 4th and 5th grade book club.

I've read the first 3 books and I'm a huge fan! Mostly because of the number of students that love these books! They get kids reading.

Yes, we're fans at my house. Loved the reintroduction to all kinds of mythology and looking forward to the Norse stories.
Enjoyed your story and how fun that you met RR!
Thanks!

I have! I listened to them a few years ago and I was completely charmed by Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Tyson. (Let's be honest, Annabeth was the BEST.) I would love to have physical copies of such great books. Also, that box set is gorgeous.

I am a big fan of Percy. I loved him since he sent Medusa's head to the Gods. :D Thank you!

Yeah, I read all of the Percy Jackson books and the Heroes of Olympus and loved them all, but the Lost Hero a little less because I missed the Percy and Annabeth storyline. But started reading them after the first movie

I have always been a huge fan! I absolutely love Percy Jackson and the Olympians as well as Heroes of Olympus! I refuse to see the movies though. Can't wait to read Magnus Chase!

Definitely a fan! I've read all of Riordan's books so far, but I love the Greek material the best.

I am definitely a fan of the books. I have read the first two, and seen the movies. I still need to finish them, and pass them to my son to read.
