A look at Rainshadow Road

I can't tell you how excited I am for this book. I simple LOVED Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor - which has the same setting as this new trilogy.

Here's the author chatting about her new series:

I'm excited for the bits about glass artistry. That's always interested me. I'm excited for the magic, the stories about the brothers, and those colorful characters!

Rainshadow Road comes out at the very end of February and I can't wait for it!!!

Review: The Liar Society

OUT IN MARCH:

Kate receives an email from her dead best friend Grace and her whole world changes. Grace couldn't really be emailing her from beyond the grave...could she?

Either way, it turns out Kate was RIGHT about Grace's death. It wasn't an accident and Grace's boyfriend might know more then he's letting on.

Kate uncovers Grace's pearls for luck and starts digging up the past.
The more clues she uncovers, the more emails Grace sends her, and the more dangerous her life becomes. With all the rumors, it's hard to know who to trust.

Does Kate have anyone watching her back? Could it be her nerdy neighbor who has a conspiracy obsession and a major crush on Kate? Could it be a boy with a dangerous past, but a wicked smile?

Will Kate solve the mystery of Pemberley Brown's past and find out what really happened the night of Grace's death?

Obtaining the Book: I've been stalking the authors of this book for months -because I couldn't wait to read this book and because they're hilarious. Their blog makes me laugh daily. So I was super happy when I found this gem in my mailbox - and it IS a gem. I had already read the first chapter online (something I don't normally do because it only makes me want the book even more - which this one did). I was hooked from the first little bit and I never looked back.

My Thoughts: I seriously loved this book and I tweeted about my need for the next book RIGHT NOW. I loved it because of mystery, the romance, the friendships, sense of danger, and the LAYERS. As Kate unravels the mystery of Grace's death,, the reader finds out what happened after Grace's death. I loved quirky nerdy Seth and his competition (not really) Dylan who's the edgy bad boy. I loved how these three fit together. I loved the clues scattered all over the school and researching the history of the school. All in all, I just really loved this book.

Cover Thoughts: I like the cover. I love the girl in her uniform and the pearls. I think the pink hair adds some flair. I'm not crazy about the sign though. I wish it had an emblem on it or something different. That said, I do think that this cover screams to be picked up.

Adult Review: Insatiable

Meena hates vampires. They're ruining her life.

First they invade her work. Meena doesn't get the promotion to head writer she's been hoping to achieve. Then they announce the popular daytime drama will be adding a vampire story line to compete with it's major competition.

Second, there's a serial killer on the loose leaving dead female bodies drained of their blood in the various parks of New York City.

Third, Meena goes out to walk her dog, Jack Bauer*, in the middle of the night. She's attacked by numerous bats, but protected by a mysterious man. She almost thinks she dreamed this late night incident.

Fourth, she starts dating this man after meeting him again at a party only to discover he's a vampire prince - ruler of all vampires. She discovers the truth about her boyfriend after a member of Palatine Alaric Wolf comes to warn her and worm the whereabouts of her new boyfriend out of her. She refuses to give up his location, even when she realizes that he IS the prince of darkness.

Lucien, despite his family history, seems to love Meena and want to protect her. However Alaric Wolf can't stand by and let that happen. He's determined to rescue Meena if it's the last thing he does.

When she puts everything together, Meena's seriously annoyed, but with a vampire war looming, which side will she end up upon?

My Thoughts: I LOVED this book.** Meena is sweet with a wicked sense or humor, snarky, and feisty. Plus she has a secret where she can see how people are going to die. Her vampire romance is sexy and sweet. Lucien's one part charming and one part dangerous. Wolf is amusing. Meena's vampire neighbors are hilarious - causing ruckus in the vampire world all in the name of match making. All in all, it's a charming sexy read full of romance, danger, protective men, and one kick butt heroine.

While this IS an adult novel, I think some older teens will naturally gravitate towards this one because it's Meg Cabot and also vampires!

The Cover: Is this supposed to be Meena? The cover, while attractive and eye catching, doesn't fit with the book.

Source: Sent to me by the amazing author! I ADORE her! (Thanks Meg!)

* I love that the name for this anxious dog is Jack Bauer.

Betraying Season

Penelope feels inferior to her twin sister's magical abilities and now spends her days studying in Ireland under the care of their former governess. Ally, a newlywed, is having a hard pregnancy, forcing Pen to spend most of her days indoors, studying. Pen doesn't mind much until she meets Lady Keating. Lady Keating takes Miss Leland under her wing introducing her to society's people, plus playing matchmaker between Penelope and her handsome son. However, she has an ulterior motive - and a plot in motion. Will Penelope fall under her spell or will she use her studies to help untangle herself from Lady Keating's clutches?

A romantically magical tale complete with double crossings, domineering mothers, a seduction, and the power of women's magic. A sweet sequel to the Bewitching Season (my review is mrdarcy3.
I'm loving this series and I do hope the adventures continue.

Sarah Dessen's Along for the Ride

I'm crazy excited about this book:
mostly because
1) It looks awesome
2) I LOVE her books
3) She wasn't supposed to write this book - but she did.
plus
4) She's going to be a local bookstore talking with teens (and me) about the book over pizza. I'm super excited for that!

Moonstone

Allie's day doesn't start out right. Climbing up on the roof to fix the TV antenna in flip-flops isn't the smartest plan. She falls off the ladder and into the bull pen. Immediately, the bull isn't happy and come charging at her. Frightened almost to death, she realizes that the bull is running backwards on her command! Freaked, she doesn't know what to do. She confides in her best friend, who looks at the star on her palm and understands. Allie is special: she has powers. She gives Allie a moonstone necklace that has been in her family for generations. At first, Allie isn't convinced. But she's visited by a fairy godmother (Sort of) where she passes three tests and gains more power. The necklace helps her to read minds. But someone's after the necklace and they'll stop at nothing to get it. When her best friend is brutally attacked, Allie knows she needs help. She turns to tough Junior, knowing she can trust him. Trust might lead her into falling for him. When her mom goes missing, she fears for the worst. Can she use her powers to save her mom...and more importantly herself?

A great start to a new series filled romance, paranormal, finding yourself, and family drama which just equals fun. I love how Allie discovers something new about herself, that changes her outlook on life. I'm already looking forward to the next book.
