Top Ten Tuesday: Older Favorite YA Books

This week's topic is  Top Ten "Older" Books I Don't Want People To Forget (I'm going with a rewind this week because I didn't have ideas for the original topic). Plus as a librarian, I love recommended books - either newer or older titles. I just want the readers to be happy. I'm going to limit myself to the first 10 I see, but there are SO many more that I wish readers would notice.

Mini Review: United We Spy

Cammie and her friends return for their last year at Gallagher Academy in their final book.

The Good: Cammie's changed since last year and it shows, but she's still adamant about the right thing to do - even though it might mean breaking ALL the rules. I love that she's determined to save her friend. I love that her friends don't let her go alone. I love the friendship and the history they share. They're all tough, strong, feisty females and I admire them so much. I love how they look forward to the future and have their own hopes and dreams.

The Bad: It's over and of course I want more!

The Verdict: It's so hard to say goodbye to this series because I loved it! Now I want to go back and re-read the books one right after the other. If you haven't read this series - what are you waiting for? Run to your local library or bookstore immediately! It's that good!

Review: Out of Sight, Out of Time

*the 5th and final book in the Gallagher Girls series - this review will contain spoilers if you haven't read the rest of the series.*

Cammie left at the beginning of the summer. She wakes up in a strange bed. She's dumbfounded to learn that it's October. The last thing she remembers is leaving school.

She has scars on her body she doesn't remember. Her hair's a different color. Her body is different. She is different. As she regains her strength, she learns she's in the alps.

With one phone call, her mom (and headmistresses of Gallagher Academy) is on her way to retrieve her. Once back at school Cammie must deal with the fact that her memory isn't returning, her friends are mad at her for leaving, and her mom begs her to leave her past in the past.

Cammie's not about to let her missing memory rule her life.  Will she uncover something she wished she had left alone?

My Thoughts: I adore this series and devoured the book. I'm sad to see the series end, but I loved it. I love Cammie for her strength, her determination, and her courage. I love her snark. It was hard watching her struggle to regain a sense of self.  While it was hard reading the ending of the series, I feel as though the loose ends were tied up and the readers leave Cammie in a good place. I adore Ally Carter and can't wait to see what she writes next (along with book 3 in the Heist Society series)

Cover Reveal Out of Sight, Out of Time

I HEART this series So Much! And the ending of that last book was such a cliff hanger. I can't wait to get my hands on this one!!!!!

Review: Only the Good Spy Young

Winter break proves to be a disaster for Bex and Cammie. One minute, the two BFFs are ice skating and then next the world goes black and Cammie's on the run - again. Only this time she sees someone familiar, someone she thought she could trust.

When that trust vanishes to betrayal, Cammie's not sure what's happening. Something major is going on but no one will give her any answers. When she can't get the answers Cammie desires, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

With her three friends, these Gallagher Girls vow to uncover the truth and discover what it will take to keep Cammie safe. Now, she's under constant guard and all the rules have changed. Will she ever find out the secrets surrounding her past and why the circle wants her?

My Thoughts: I LOVED this book. It takes everything we knew about the Gallagher Girls and changes it. Cammie deepens in her understanding of the world outside school and what it takes to succeed in the spy world. Everything's different and yet the bond between the four friends deepens with each act of betrayal, rule breaking, and operation they undertake together. I love the sisterhood ideal in these books. However, the ending leaves on a HUGE cliff-hanger. I'm dying to know what happens next.

Don't Judge a Girl By her Cover

Cammie meets up with her roommate and best buddy Macey in Boston to help Macey weather the storm of her father's political ambitions. Macey doesn't show the world her true self, but she's on par with your average rich girl. She'd never give up any details of the Gallagher secrets (read SPY school for girls). In Boston, the unthinkable happens. Cammie and Macey are attacked and barely make it off the roof together and in one piece. Now that school's back in session, Cammie's shaken but she's more worried about Macey than herself. Macey must spend time with her family on the political trail and Cammie's not too far behind her - even if it means breaking the rules. Cammie's aunt is on Macey's detail team, but Cammie can't help thinking there's something in the back of her head that she can't put her finger on - something that will answer all her questions about the attempted kidnapping. She just hopes she can remember if before it's too late.

The third book in the Gallagher Girl series left me dangling with my mouth left open in shock and me needing the next book in the series pronto! The danger and tension in the first few pages of the book carries throughout the rest of the tale. There's also the hilarious bit about the girls who can handle almost anything trying to decode guy behavior. All in all, it's a fabulous read.
