Adult Review: Rose Harbor In Bloom

Jo Marie has an open house on Sunday, but before she can worry about that, she has a weekend full of guests at the inn and a rose garden she wants planted.

Annie's been planning her grandparent's 50th anniversary party; helping keep her mind off her own broken engagement. She wants everything to be perfect, but she never counted on her grandparents bickering all the time. What happened to the couple who looked at each other with love?

Mary shouldn't have made the trip - but she couldn't resist. She used to be so happy on the west coast and then on the east coast. Now everything's changed.

Was the ghost of Paul right - could Inn be healing everyone who stays there?

My Thoughts: I devoured this book - I love seeing old friends from Cedar Cove pop up and meeting new friends. I love the relationship between Jo Marie and Mark. I love Mark's gruff behavior but sweet nature underneath. My heart broke for Mary and George but I love the way the book ended for them. I liked Annie and her grandparents. They were sweet, but funny when they give each other a hard time.  I liked learning more about Oliver and his relationship to the family. I like the tiny tidbits we learned from the inn's previous guest. A huge fan of these books, I'm already anticipating  the next book in the series.

Adult Review: Inn at Rose Harbor

* start of a new series which takes place in Cedar Cove, after that series *

Jo Marie lost her husband in a helicopter accident in Afghanistan. They weren't married that long, but his death left a huge whole in her life. She didn't want to stay in her house.

Jo Marie found the perfect bed and breakfast for sale. Before she knew it, she was the new owner. From the moment she stepped foot in it, it just felt right. Now she hopes to make other people feel that same sense of belonging.

Her first two guests seem to come with baggage of their own. Josh came back to town to deal with the upcoming death of his stepfather - the man who threw him out of his house. He's never dealt with his anger against the man and it call comes rushing back to him. Angie hasn't been back home since the tragedy years ago when a car accident took the life of her best friend. She's buried herself with guilt since that night and barely allowed herself to breathe. Can these two guest comes to terms with their past and find peace at the Inn at Rose Harbor?

My Thoughts: I adored the Cedar Cove series and I'm so happy to see favorite characters popping up in this new series. It's like visiting with old friends. I enjoyed getting to know Jo Marie. I like watching her healing process and learning more about her past life. I loved reading the details about her purchasing the inn, getting it ready, and running the inn.  I loved Rover and how Jo Marie found him. I can't wait to read more of their adventures. Both Josh and Angie had such sad stories, but I liked reading about how they each confronted their past. My heart broke of each of these characters, but I admired their strength and their courage. I'm so looking forward to more guests at the inn and reading more about one of my favorite fictional towns.

Christmas Review: 1225 Christmas Tree Lane

Beth Morehouse hopes that this Christmas will be perfect. Her two college aged daughters are coming home. She can't wait to make it perfect for them, until they drop the news that their father also wants to come.

Beth moved states to get away from the painful divorce. She's not sure she can deal with her ex-husband coming to visit. However, she gives in to her daughters when she hears that he asked to come. In all honesty, she might still love him.

She's shocked to discover he brought a women with him. Beth doesn't know what she's feeling this Christmas. She only hopes that she can make it through the holidays and find homes for all the puppies someone left on her doorstep.

My Thoughts: I'm saddened that this is the last Cedar Cove novel, but I love that it ended with a Christmas Story. I loved Beth as a new character. I loved how the stories ended for the old favorite characters. A bittersweet story for fans of this series. For a stand alone, it's a cute Christmas story, but I would start with the beginning of the series with 16 Lighthouse Road,

Adult Review: Cedar Cove Christmas

Mary Jo Wyse comes to Cedar Cove to the confront her baby's daddy. David claimed to be coming to Cedar Cover for Christmas. Mary Jo's three over-protective brothers want to burst into David's family house and call him out. Mary Jo sneaks away to warn the family.

When she arrives in the small town, she realizes that she has no idea where to start. She stops in a local cafe and the boy at the counter suggests she try the library after using the phone book proves no help. Mary Jo heads for the library where she meets Grace.

As soon as she spills her story, Grace knows what happened. She takes over, offering up the apartment in her barn for Mary Jo to stay the night. Mary Jo falls in the love with the town and it's people. She only hopes that she can stop her three brothers from making a mess out of her life because they seem to think they know what's best for her.

My Thoughts: I ADORE Christmas books. This one set in one of my favorite series. Most of the book takes place in one day. It was sweet, charming, and full of hope.

Adult Review: 16 Lighthouse Road

Olivia takes an unusual stand against one couple seeking divorce. Instead of granting them divorce, she wants them to talk about their issues. As a a judge, it's a different approach, but her decision stands.

Could it be a result of her own failed marriage?

Either way, the newspaper writes an article about it. The reporter seems very interested in getting to know her a little better (or a lot better.)

That worries Olivia. Her daughter's dating habits and their tension filled relationship also worries her.

Can Olivia find a way to smooth out the wrinkles in her life?


My Thoughts: I Loved it! I LOVE Debbie Macomber. The start of a series in the small town of Cedar Cove - where everyone knows each other. I love the feel of the small town. There are no secrets here. I loved the different perspectives, especially those in Olivia's family. I loved the romance, the friendships, and the drama. I loved the ending - where the woman looks across the road to the next house 204 Rosewood Lane (which I just started last night.)
