TV Series Review: Diary of a Future President

I found out about this Disney+ Show while watching Disney Insider (which is also really great!)

Which is also super good and interesting. When they talked about this show created by Ilana Peña and led by a all women creative team, I knew I had to watch it.

Gina Rodriguez appears in the very beginning as the President. (How cool is that?) 

I was hoping there would be a little more back and forth between the future and the present.

However, the present is fantastic. I loved the cast of characters.

I loved how everyone struggled with romance or friendship or family - but how they all came together and relied on each other.

There is a lot of feelings here. 

Also a lot of diversity which is great. And lots of inclusivity. 

There's LGBT moments - questioning your feelings and sharing those feelings with the world.

There are also bullies (it is middle school after all). 

I loved the teasing moments between the family.

This is a sweet family drama about the beginning steps of Elena as she becomes a leader. Of course she struggles and makes mistakes and put things back to right.

It's funny and sweet and real.

I'm so happy this has been renewed because I want more of all these characters.

Movie Review: The Last Dance

I confess that I didn't know too much about Michael Jordan before watching this. I didn't start really watching basketball until my 20s. And then it was all about Paul Pierce and the Celtics.

I knew that he:
* Had been cut from his high school team
* Went to North Carolina
* Played for the Chicago Bulls
* Played with Scottie Pippen
* Won a bunch of games and several championships
* Wore Hanes (which wasn't even in the series)


I did not know that:
* He went 3rd in the overall draft
* Had a terrible relationship with the team management
* Scottie Pippen was so good and so underpaid
* The Michael Rules
* The Management broke up the team
* Other players on the team
* How MJ made up stories in his mind to fuel his fire
* How badly MJ needed to win all the time - no matter the cost

I really really enjoyed this series. I learned so much about basketball and the players, coaches, and management. Because I didn't know most of the stories, I was on edge for a lot of the series. A fantastic series to binge!

I do wish there had been a little bit more at the end of what happened to the key people. I know there was that snippet - but I wanted more.

Series Review: Baby-Sitters' Club

As I read several of these books in fifth grade, I was super excited to learn about this series. I couldn't wait to watch it - and I wasn't disappointed.

Spoiler: it was PERFECT

It was a modern day adaptation, but it kept the phone line. Obviously you have to have the phone line for the meetings.

I loved seeing the character stories I remember from the books - even if they were very different (the camp stories). But I love the updates.

I honestly wouldn't change a thing about this series. It captured the heart of the book series.
