Summer Time Book Review: Best of My Love

Each summer, I love reading books that make me happy, especially a friends to lovers story.

* Book 20 in the Fool's Gold series *

Shelby wants to learn how to trust men - especially after her childhood. She thinks that if she can become friends with a man, than she could learn how to have a relationship. She think she's picked the perfect candidate in Aidan.

Aidan dates tourists - lots of tourists. He doesn't want any strings attached but when one returns and he doesn't remember her, she makes a scene. So he swears off dating for six months. When Shelby approaches him with her idea, he's not sold on it, but he realizes that something has to change. So he agrees to give it a go.

No one in town believes that they are just friends - but they are, until they're not. Could romance blossom out of friendship?

My Thoughts: I adore this series and this book was really sweet. I loved how their friendship started rocky but grew as they alternated choosing activities - alternating with boy activities and girl ones. It showcased their banter, which was fantastic. I like how they helped each other come to terms with relationships in their lives - family and friends. I loved seeing more about Shelby and the bakery and all her big plans.  And that puppy was really sweet.

Summer Time Book Review: Boys of Summer

Each summer, I love reading books that take place in summer - preferably with a beach setting including romance

 Grayson, Mike, and Ian are hoping for one last epic summer on the island before everything changes. But in reality, everything's already changed.

Grayson's mom left his family. As a reaction, he drove off angry and got into a car accident that messed up his shoulder. He's lying to everyone about how badly it still hurts, realizing that in the fall, he probably won't be playing college football.

Mike's girlfriend breaks up with him. She does this often, but this time it might be for good. With his father out of work, Mike steps up to help out the family.  Floundering he's not sure what's going to happen to him.

Ian's father never came home from his latest deployment. For him the summer is only a reminder of what he lost. Can he find a way to overcome his grief?

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. I love that it's about older teen boys who just graduated high school. It reminded of books from a few years back, which I miss. I like how everything is from the guys perspective even though each of the boys has a summer romance. I love the island setting. I love how the boys are different (race and social class). I love how they try to talk with each other without really saying too much - until it all came out. I love the fantasy show they all talk about - how very Game of Thrones.

Summer Time Book Review: Since Last Summer

Books perfect for the beach or to read by the pool

Rory's now the guest for the summer at the Rule house, instead of being the errand girl. She and Isabel are hoping to have the best summer ever.

Rory has an art internship, which leave Isabel alone. The days stretch endlessly before Isabel. She's annoyed with Rory for spending her free time with Connor instead of with her.  She when she meets a boy, who works at a cafe in need of another waitress, she takes the job. She still thinks about Mike from last summer, but Evan could change that.

Rory's having trouble with Connor. They give off the appearance of a happy couple, but the relationship's full of hurt feelings and misunderstandings.

Can Rory and Isabel save their summer?

My Thoughts: I really liked this sequel - set one year later. I loved the feel of summer from the book - the moments on the beach with the waves crashing, the hot sun, and then freedom. I liked seeing both Rory and Isabel working and how their jobs differed.  I liked the summer romances, but more importantly, I loved the friendship between the two girls.
