Hope's nervous about attending middle school, especially since she and her BFF Sam won't be in the same classes. Hope's happy she placed in the advance classes, but she's going to miss her friend. Maybe the Science Club will help her friend more people.My Thoughts: I really liked this book - it's all about friendship, science club, navigating middle school, and making everyone feel welcome. I love how Hope joined the Science Club and fought for her voice to be heard. I love that she wanted to include other girls in the science club and make everyone an equal part. Of course, she makes mistake and tries to atone for her behavior. I love what they turned into the competition. And the illustrations were cute too. I'm curious to see if this will be the start of a new STEAM series.
But as soon as she mentions that to her new lab partner, Hope's stunned to learn that there are only boys in Science Club. Now Hope's determined to join and to bring along a few girls too.

I felt bad for Maya for missing out on the competition. I loved watching her struggle to find a way back home and how nothing ever worked out the way she thought it would. I really liked Shiver and Bug and Remy. I loved seeing the sights through Maya's eyes. But I know it would be super hard to pack all my books into a RV and hard to live there with little to no privacy. Of course Maya makes a ton of mistakes, but she has a good heart that leads her to discover the important things.
Maya can't believe her bad luck especially since she had the perfect partner in Jack (the cutest boy in school). Now she's making a list of ways to get back home. Except all the ideas are terrible, but Maya's determined to make it home before the big day.
Library Recommendation: Perfect for tween collections in schools and public libraries, especially those in need of more artsy books.
Ada's curiosity makes her question Everything! Her favorite question WHY sometimes gets her into trouble.My Thoughts: Loved this one too. I adore this series of characters who explore the world and their place in it. I love how Ada questions everything. I love how her parents encourage her questions (not always by writing on the wall). I like how she observed the world. I love that her first word was WHY? I love how she doesn't give up, but puzzles out the answer. I like how she experiments on the family cat and that's she's placed in the thinking chair afterwards. But not even that stops her. Great pictures. Fantastic Story. Perfect for encouraging young minds.
