Picture Book Review: The Humble Pie

Pie is humble - he doesn't need to be in the spotlight. His friend Cake loves the spotlight. But when they are teamed up for a project, Pie gets annoyed. Can he have a difficult conversation with his friend? Will his friend still like him?

This is such a great book for those kids who don't love the limelight. Sometimes you do want to be recognized for your work. But there is a fine line. Pie walks this line well, but he challenges himself a little bit.

Picture Book Review: Bubble Gum Bison Needs a Bath

Bubble Gum Bison fell in the mud while playing. But when she goes home, her mom tells her that she needs a bath. She's so upset that she runs back to the playground. But that just makes everything worse.

My Thoughts: This was a silly story that will have readers laughing and reading this again and again. 

* Apparently, this is the second book. The first book deals with the brother featured in this book.

Picture Book Review: Pets

A few picture books about pets.

The library fish loves storytime and seeing everyone in the library read. But she can't read, so she decides to teach herself. 

Reading is a fundamental skill. I love the moment when Fish declares herself a Reader. And the ending is adorable. A lovely bookish book for all bookworms. 

Dog is living in the moment - and doing a great job of it.

This book is funny and charming - plus it has a great message. I love the mindfulness of the story. I love the endnotes with more information. There's a lot to talk about with this book. Dog lovers will enjoy it.

Cat loves exploring and being curious!

This book is also adorable - lots of emotions and trying different things. Again with the endnotes and vocabulary in this book. Perfect for cat lovers!

Picture Book Review: Hike

I'm a big fan of hiking and so I loved this almost wordless picture book.

It's about a father and a child getting up, going for a hike, planting a tree, and coming back to capture the moments. It's sweet, full of the wonder of nature, and all about adventure. The illustrations are amazing. A beautiful story that's begging to be shared.

I love that more and more picture books are talking about nature, camping, and hiking.
