Review: When We Go Missing

 

What if you found evidence of a crime, but no one believed you?

Seventeen-year-old Willow always has a camera around her neck. She volunteers as a photographer at Finding Home animal shelter. When Willow stumbles upon a lost camera memory card, it’s filled with hundreds of photos of teenage girls. Some are smiling, others unaware, and a few seem terrified.

The police tell her taking photos in public isn’t a crime. But Willow can’t seem to let it go, especially after she finds her own photo on the card. Willow teams up with new volunteer Dare to figure out what happened to the girls. - Summary from the publisher

My Thoughts: I really loved this book. It's creepy and had me turning the pages. Although I did have to stop when it got too close to bedtime, so I wouldn't have nightmares. I loved the time at the shelter with the animals and watching the behind-the-scenes moments. I felt bad for Dare for what he went through (and I'm still coming to terms with it.) I feel for Willow with her home life situation. This book was so fantastic.

Just a few picture books about pets:

Willow was born on a farm. Jill Biden visited for the farm and saw the kitten. Willow went to live at the White House.  

This was such a fun book - about Willow and how she loved to explore the White House. 

Staceypants lives in a yellow house - where not my cat keeps coming around. Staceypants doesn't have time for pets. But they do everything together.

This is such a cute book - but there is a scary moment when the cat disappears. Besides that moment, there are lots of moments for cat lovers. I love how they did yoga together. 

Ruffles doesn't like to share, can the kittens change his mind?

This is a cute story with both kitten and dogs. Ruffles has a series of books.

Picture Book Review: Penelope Rex and the Problem with Pets

 

Penelope Rex's parents get her a pet - but Mittens is a handful. Is Penelope Rex ready to be responsible for Mittens?

Penelope Rex is excited about her pet - but Mittens is a lot of work. Mittens hogs the bed. Mitten eats everything (except his supper).  I really loved this one because I too have a goofy handful of a dog. He also hogs the bed. And of course, I adore him too.

Picture Book Review: Pets

A few picture books about pets.

The library fish loves storytime and seeing everyone in the library read. But she can't read, so she decides to teach herself. 

Reading is a fundamental skill. I love the moment when Fish declares herself a Reader. And the ending is adorable. A lovely bookish book for all bookworms. 

Dog is living in the moment - and doing a great job of it.

This book is funny and charming - plus it has a great message. I love the mindfulness of the story. I love the endnotes with more information. There's a lot to talk about with this book. Dog lovers will enjoy it.

Cat loves exploring and being curious!

This book is also adorable - lots of emotions and trying different things. Again with the endnotes and vocabulary in this book. Perfect for cat lovers!
