Mysterious Saturday Review: Third Lie's the Charm

 * Final book in the trilogy*

Kate's not ready to let go of Grace. The Sisterhood's still active and Kate wants revenge. She's annoying her friends and family by making them angry and sad that she can't let this rest. They don't understand why she has to make things right.

When another boy dies, things get worse. The boy called Kate that night, but Kate was busy infiltrating the Sisterhood. Now she's on a mission to see who's behind the mysterious letter sent from the Brotherhood. She really does want this nightmare to be over. Maybe then she can reclaim a normal life.
My Thoughts: I really loved this trilogy for the mystery, for the plot twists, for the secrets, for the danger, for the lies fro the betrayals, and for the deep ever lasting friendship. I laughed at Kate's snark. I laughed at Seth's goofiness. I wanted to know more about Grace. I never wanted to go to Pemberly Brown, even though it sounds pretty on the surface. I wanted to see Kate kick butt and take names. I'm sad to see the end of Kate and her friends but I loved the ending.

Cover Thoughts: Cute

Third Lie's the Charm Tour

Kate Lowry is sick of the lies, sick of the secret societies that rule life at Pemberly Brown Academy. Welcome back to Pemberly Brown, where there are secrets so big people will do anything to protect them…

For more than a century, the secret societies at Pemberly Brown Academy have been at war. The Sisterhood and the Brotherhood will do whatever it takes to make sure they have ultimate rule, and witty Nancy Drew-esque heroine Kate Lowry is determined to bring them to justice. It’s the least she can do after the societies killed her best friend freshman year. The only way to take down the Sisterhood is from the inside… but once Kate starts experiencing the perks of being a member, will she still want to take them down?

Sounds great right? Check out Chapter 1
I can't wait to start reading my copy :)

Lisa and Laura Roecker are sisters-turned-writing-partners with a love of all things Young Adult. Some call it arrested development, but the sisters claim it keeps them young. Plus, it’s cheaper than Botox. Lisa and Laura live in Cleveland, Ohio, in separate residences. Their husbands wouldn’t agree to a duplex.

Lisa Roecker attended Miami University with a double major in Marketing and English Literature. She graduated and took a deeply boring job that paid the bills. Eventually she started writing with her sister to keep things interesting.

Laura Roecker fell in love with books because her big sister said she should. She graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in Middle Childhood Education. After teaching for several years, she finally realized her dream when she found a writing partner in her sister.

Blog Tour: This is W.A.R.

Willa Ames-Rowan and James Gregory went out on a boat on July 4th during a party. James came back alone. Later, the police uncovered Willa's body. Her lips were blue. She was a champion swimmer, but died drowning. Everyone knows what happened, but no one is saying a word. With a name like Gregory, no one goes against your word.

Three friends know something went down that night. Rose overhears them talking about it. She wants in on their plans. She wasn't close with Willa, but Willa was always nice to her. Willa talked to her when most people wouldn't. Now these four girls are doing everything in their power to take down the Gregory family. They demand justice - but will their plots destroy themselves in the process?
My Thoughts: I couldn't put this book down - it was so compelling. I had to figure out what happened that night at the party. I loved the friendship the four girls formed - and how they were there for each other. I liked the Pemberly Brown reference. I love how the book opened with Willa's point of view. Even though Rose seemed like the main character, I enjoyed the perspectives of each of the four girls. I liked their home base - the attic. It seemed like a great meeting place or place to read. I liked the moments in public at the club - they were full of tension.  I liked how each of the plots turned out differently than what they expected and how the Gregory family cleverly spun them.  I loved the plans to take down the family and how each girl had something invested in taking them down. An all around engrossing novel full of plot twists that make it hard to put down.

Cover Thoughts: Great - I love it

Mysterious Saturday Review: Lies that bind

*2nd in the Liar Society series, read my review of book one*

Kate knows what happened to Grace and she's still trying to deal with the aftermath. There's a dedication to Grace at the school and afterwards, Kate receives a message.

That night at the Obsideo, the students say goodbye to Grace, the same way they've been saying goodbye to all the other students who have died over the years.

At first, Kate isn't planning to go, but after a series a strange circumstances, she changes her mind. She arrives with Liam and deals with the student body as best she can, through avoidance and snark.

A scream echoes through the night air and a girl goes missing. Kate's convinced it's the same people who messed with Grace. Kate's still curious about the secret societies and has vowed revenge. Her quest for revenge creates havoc in her personal relationships. She's desperately trying to hold everything  together, but she's running out of time. Can she help save Bethany?
My Thoughts: The second book is just as good as the first, leaving you breathless for more, once again. Kate's vow for revenge leads her to make poor decisions that constantly put her life in danger. I hate how she's put into a position where she's making people in her life unhappy because of her choices, however, I can't imagine her NOT making those choices. I love that she's willing to help a girl who's been horrible to her because she can't stand the thought of anyone else going through the same pain she went through. It shows her determination, her loyalty, and that she has a good heart.

My heart hurts for all the pain she's going through and how hard she's trying to pick up the pieces of her life, but how it's impossible to go back to the way things were. I like the addition of her former best friend, who's going through her own troubles. I like how they could remember Grace together, it showed a new side of Grace. For most of the book, I felt like Kate, floundering at all the possibilities and secrets the school holds. The action and danger kept me guessing until the end of book.

Cover Thoughts: I love the hair and that hat! It matches perfectly with the first cover in the series.
