Picture Book Wednesday: Halloween Books (4)

Another Round of Halloween Picture Books

This picture book alternates between look and find and "information" about things that might scare you on Halloween

Zombees invade small town. How will everyone survive?

A clever twist on zombies in this cute rhyming picture book.

In the vein of Twas the Night before Christmas comes a baking story about monsters.

This is a sweet story that's not really a Halloween story, but the monsters make it work. This story is a gingerbread man tale about friendship.

No one on the beach wants a Halloween party. But each time the grown-ups try to force them off the beach, they have clever comeback. Will they get their wish?

While this is not a traditional Halloween story, this rhyming story is rather funny.

Picture Book Wednesday: Halloween Picture Books (2)

Just a few books to get you in the mood for Halloween!

For one little boy, Halloween is the best and the worst night of the year. He's counting down the sleeps. I love how this book incorporates so many Halloween ideas: haunted houses, scary movies, corn maze, picking out your costume, and all that CANDY!

I loved this book - it's cute and the illustrations are amazing. I love how the book gets closer to the house with every new day.

It's Halloween night and Hazel has the hiccups. Magic and hiccups do not mix! Hazel calls her friend to help but nothing they do can scare her enough. Will she ever get rid of them?

This rhyming book is simply adorable and perfect for Halloween.

What happens if you're too cute to be scary? She tries to find her Halloween self, but nothing she tries works.

She's stunned to find that everyone is delighted to see her at the Halloween party. And she realizes that she's perfect just the way she is.

One little girl is tired of being thought of as cute on Halloween. This year, she's decided to be a scary witch.

This is a fun story about changing up Halloween. Is there such a thing as too scary?

Picture Book Wednesday: Halloween Books (2)

Just a few more Halloween picture books:

This might be my new favorite picture book. I love how this family celebrates at a Trunk or Treat event. There's so much to do and so much fun to be had.

Of course I love the bit about the books. I might use this for our library's Halloween storytime. The illustrations are great, the colors are bright, and the rhymes are fantastic.

All the animals in the zoo are dressed up in costume and ready for the parade.

This book is clever and funny. I loved seeing all the animals in their costumes. And that ending is amazing.

This board book has the rhyme of the Itsy Bitsy Spider, but instead of a spider, a pumpkin is the star of the show.

This cute Halloween book is perfect for sharing with littles!

Picture Books: Halloween (2)

A few more Halloween picture books to share:

What do you love about Halloween?  I'm looking forward to sharing this book during our storytime.

An interactive picture book about Halloween fun. There are so many problems and the Boo Crew can help get the party back on track. Also looking forward to reading this one during our storytime.

A witch has a plan to make mischief on Halloween night - can the group of friends save the day? They don't want monsters running around after Halloween. This is a fun addition to the series.

The Villains are here to play. Would you want to hang out with the Disney villains? Readers will love this one.

Frog soup is a witch's favorite treat - and this witch is filming a cooking show. Everything goes well until it's time to add the frogs. It's hard capturing a frog - really hard. This is going to a great read-aloud. It's very funny. The ending is fantastic.  I can't wait to read this one at our storytime too!

Picture Books: Halloween

Just a few Halloween picture books I'm sharing:

Owls are getting ready for Halloween - this book is perfect for storytime. It's not too wordy, the illustrations are cute, and it shares lots of Halloween ideas. I love the author's note on the history of Halloween.

Lots of adventures to be had at the orchard's Halloween party! A fantastic outing that makes me want to visit an orchard.

While this isn't a great story - it does have a little ghost that Loves scaring readers.  And it's fun to see places in your state mentioned.

A little witch tries to ride her broom - and it doesn't go well (at first.) A great message about trying again, this rhyming book is lots of fun.

Monkey and his friends are walking out in the jungle - but it's dark and it's scary. But he's not scared - much! An interesting tale about the dark, jungle animals, emotions, and trick or treating.

Halloween Picture Books (3)

A few more fun Halloween Picture Books:

The animals find a pumpkin and they're not sure what to make of it. While this one isn't strictly a Halloween book, it does have a fun party and it's super cute.

A Cinderella story about pumpkins and vegetables. Squasherella isn't scary...until she gains some confidence. A fun twist on the classic tale.

What you see is what you get! The wheels on the bus song in Halloween form with cute illustrations. Delightful.

No one wants to live in this house - and it makes the house sad and lonely. She's just a little bit creeky, squeaky, and dusty. She tries so hard not to be haunted. But then a wind blows through and she becomes herself. And she Likes it! She really is haunted and she's looking for a family who doesn't mind. A great book about being yourself and finding your family/friends who love you.

Halloween Board Books

Today I'm chatting about some delightful Halloween Board Books - some purchased for the library and some sent for review.

Baby gets ready for Halloween in this super adorable picture book. I love the illustrations here.

A cute book about what animals say at Halloween. Plus there's a mirror in the back for fun with readers.

So much fun packed in to this book and so many new words to learn. I loved the showcasing of the Action Words and the Feeling Words. And the illustrations are really cute! I'm looking forward to getting more of these for the library's collection!

A fun Halloween twist on a classic tale.

This book celebrates all the best parts of fall - including carving pumpkins. These illustrations are charming and adorable. I'm looking forward to the winter story!

Learn how to hide a ghost in this spooky fun story. The Lift the Flaps make this one harder for libraries to circulate. But the book is super fun and would make a great gift.

Trick or Treat around this neighborhood of monsters in the spooky adorable book. Again, these flaps are tricky for little fingers and libraries. Again perfect for a gift. I love how the houses are all unique and perfect for the monster inside. I wish there could be a Christmas version of this book because it would also be super cute.

More Halloween Picture Books

Nothing goes right on Crankenstein's favorite day of the year...until it does.

A Halloween tale that will generate empathy over a bad day during all the Halloween fun

This bad seed is upset that none of his costume ideas worked out. What if he could postpone the holiday until he has more time for a better costume?

Another book about empathy and feeling the pressure of holidays - when you just need to be yourself.

If you're a dinosaur fan - this is a great mash-up of Halloween fun and dinosaurs.

Pumpkins turn into Pumpkin Heads on Halloween night - and each other is a little bit different.

Lots of different faces in this book.

Halloween Picture Books

A few new Halloween books came into the library this week:

A witch in your book is making a terrible mess - maybe magic will help clean it up!

I love these books and Tom Fletcher is really popular at my library. These fun interactive books are great for storytimes.

Creepy monsters won't leave the town alone but Curly Locks might have the solution.

A little bit creepy but very fun, this cooking book is sure to please readers.

For anyone who can't get enough of Baby Shark. The ending is cute here!

For those who love We're Going on a Bear Hunt with a spooky vibe!
