I've become a die hard Celtic fan and this lockout is KILLING me. Bring back my boys, we all NEED them!

This was THE year
Rondo was going to eat Rose's lunch
Green is the new black
I won't know what to do with all my free time
I miss the steals, the dunks, and the crazy Rondo moves
I miss arguing about players - with my husband, my friends, people online
I miss Garnet's intensity - plus he NEEDS an outlet for all that emotion
I miss Mike and Tommy
I miss Pierce
I miss the sweet shot of Ray Allen - just when you need it the most.

Basketball is hope, entertainment, and pure awesomesauce.
End the lockout and bring it back.
The fans NEED it!

Ten Things: Fall Shows

I'm excited for tons of fall shows that I can't wait to try. Here's some of the top ones. Most of these I haven't seen yet, they're currently awaiting my free time. But they all have promise.

New Girl - I really like Zooey Deschanel and her quirkiness. It sounds a little like My Boys - minus the sports.

Secret Circle: Saw the Pilot of this one - very intriguing

Once Upon a Time: The modern world and the fairy tale world cross over and are about to collide


Pam Am: set in the 60s - sounds like Mad Men in the air and without the smoking.

Ten Things: Patriotic Movies

I meant to put this up last week, but had some things to deal with and thus, it's a week late, but better late then never...

My Dad teaches history to high school students (not the high school I went too). We watched a lot of history movies. We went to a lot of historical places on vacation. There was a time when I was annoyed by that, but in college, things changed. I went to Gettysburg during a volunteer trip. While the expert we went with was great, he wasn't my Dad and I spent the whole trip wishing he was there with me. Now I go these places on my own - with my husband. We watch the same types of movies (although not the documentaries). I read a lot of historical fiction. Basically, I'm a history girl. Who would have guessed?

10 Things: Recap of BEA

Last week on Tuesday and Wednesday I was lucky enough to attend BEA. I traveled with a fellow librarian from my library. We had a plan - but traffic once again played a little part in the trip. We were delayed an hour and thus missed a few signings. For the next two days, I waited in lines - chatting with various people, talked with many awesome authors I already knew, talked with several awesome new authors, stopped two authors in the middle of the floor like a complete fangirl, talked with publishers about upcoming titles, talked with people in the lines - book bloggers and librarians alike, and have two stacks of books I can't wait to read.

1. I scored Uncommon Criminals - which I'm reading and it's AMAZING. Plus Ally Carter said she likes my blog!

2. I didn't make the cut for the Harlequin Teen signing - which I really wanted to see great authors, but as I wandered away (after taking pictures), I stumbled upon Christoper Paolini signing Inheritance posters. I snagged one.
3. I saw Mike Holmes - I didn't get to meet him because his line was crazy long, but he looked so charming and sweet.
4. Seeing all the new books coming out and all the hype for the books!

5. Hanging out with Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Sarah Beth Durst, and Melanie from the blog Reclusive Blogger

6. I stopped Maureen Johnson in a booth. She was so sweet and after reading my name tag - she said that she knew my name.

7. Meeting Richelle Mead - even though I acted like a complete fan girl.


8. Seeing and meeting so many authors: Ridley Pearson, Harlan Coben, Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, Ally Condie, Mary Jane Clark, Susan Mallery - just to name a few.

9. I went with Amanda from my library - we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and then Toys R Us before collapsing from exhaustion
10. The best part is I have new books for the library and prizes for teens for the summer reading program. My library doesn't spend much money on summer prizes for Teens, but I love getting books for them!!!!

11. Having so many great books to read and share with teens and other librarians!!!!!

Ten Things: Sarah Dessen Week

Apparently I wrote down the wrong week in my calendar: I thought THIS week was Sarah Dessen week, which means that I'm a week late. Better late than never I guess. Did you celebrate Sarah Dessen week? If you missed it (like me) , check it out here.




Reasons why I LOVE Sarah Dessen:

Her books are amazing - I seriously LOVE them
May favorite is Truth about Forever - although I Love Along for the Ride too
She writes contemporary romances - which always make me fall for the boy
Her book covers ROCK - she's bless by the cover Goddesses
I met her and she was super sweet
She posed for a photo for my Library READ posters, even though she hates how she looks in pictures.

I LOVE her blog - she's so honest and funny
I love how she writes about FNL - I seriously need to watch that show
She loves the beach and basketball
Her new book, What Happened toGoodbye is on my bookshelf right now, just waiting for me to read it! I can't wait!!!

Ten Things: Comics

In honor of Free Comic Book Day (The 1st Saturday in May each year), I made a fun display of items in our collection. I just purchased a bunch of manga and graphic novels for the collection - tie-ins to movies, new series, filling gaps in our series, and adding on to popular series.

Here are some of my favorites. I admit, I don't usually read this type of book. Thus most of the ones I read are either extraordinarily girly or adaptations of books. I confess sometimes it's hard for me to follow manga, as I get confused with the characters. A lot of times the characters look so similar they blend together and I have no idea which character is talking. I suppose I simply to read more of this genre.

Pride and Prejudice: I find this interesting and I have the Sense and Sensibility version to read next.

Breaking Up: I LOVE Aimee Friedman. I love this book for the story and the art!
Dark Hunter: I haven't read the books, but I found myself loving this story.
Harlequin Ginger Blossom Manga: I love these romances.

Garfield: I Love Garfield. He cracks me up

Marmaduke: I have a special love for Marmaduke - from my Grandfather:


Sorcerers and Secretaries: Love the daydreaming and the secret world of her imagination


Emma: An unlikely tale of love between classes in the Victorian Era. I'm a sucker for Victorian books.

Ten Things (Actaully 13): Adult books I'm Dying to Read

I don't usually read many adult books that aren't mysteries, but I have several authors that I do follow. Here's a list of books I think look great.
Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke's Heart: I have LOVED Sarah MacLean's other books, her YA book and the two others in this series. I Love Juliana and can't wait to read her tale. GoodReads - out on Tuesday (PS: I heard a rumor that a character from The Season makes an appearance in this book)

It Happened One Season: I'm not usually into short stories because I always want them to become books, but it just looks SO good. I love the cover. I wonder if any of the characters will cross-over into stories. GoodReads - out now
To Marry A Prince: I saw this on a book blog and with the Royal Wedding fast approaching, it looks like the perfect read. It's a modern day fairy tale story where an ordinary girl meets and falls for a Prince. Now she has deal with the politics and paparazzi of the world. GoodReads - I can't seem to find any information about the release. It's from the UK, so it might not have been published in the US yet - here's hoping.

From Notting Hill with Love...Actually I saw this book on the same blog, and the titles, not to mention the cover, hooked me. Scarlett has her head in the clouds, dreaming of movies. Can her life replicate some of her favorite movies? GoodReads

Dashwood Sisters Tell All: As a Jane Austen freak, I'm already hooked on this one. Two sisters take a walking tour of Jane Austen's England for their mother's dying wish. Their mother also left them a diary, that could be Cassandra Austen's diary. GoodReads - out now.

Already Home:Jenna needs a break from her life and a break to recover her dreams. When she spies a building for sale, she immediately envisions a cooking store. GoodReads - out now
I LOVE this series and can't wait to read the next two. I love the O'Brien family.

Smokin' Seventeen: Hilarious series with Stephanie Plum - simply fantastic. When I start any book of this series, I can barely put it down. It's THAT good. GoodReads - out June 21st
