Vacation Photos: Ocean CIty

Last week, we had a long weekend in Ocean City, Maryland.
It's a place we've been a few times.
It was a time of relaxing (before the busy Summer Reading season) full of mini golf, beaches, and good food.

New Ink part 1

New Ink part 2

The lovely beach

Beach reading

A table in the candy store. Loved it!

We played some games at the arcade. This is my favorite - even though I'm terrible at it.

We went searching for some wild horses

They were there and charming, but mostly they were far away.

But this one was right near the road

More beach

A croissant + eclair - we found this in a little bakery (Baked) in a town near the horses.
We didn't know it, but part of Runaway Bride was filmed there.

We found a dount/breakfast place. They had THE best Boston Cream donuts. Layton's.

Dinosaur mini golf

We saw the sunset from our balcony almost every night - it looks orange but it was really more pink.

The clouds were fun too.

Books and Treats (12)

A new blog idea inspired by Andi @ http://andiabcs.com/2014/08/01/pub-date-1/ with the Pub Date where a few bloggers share book and beer pair ups.  Andi states that the idea is the brain child of Brittany at The Book Addict’s Guide.

It's been a while since I posted one of these, but I do read a lot of books with food in them. And after getting several books about donuts at the library, I needed to make my own!

Do you find that your reading influences your baking?

Tricky Twenty-Two (Stephanie Plum, #22)

Pioneer Woman's Glazed Donuts. Carli made these and they were delicious! Better than Krispy Kreme!:

Stephanie and Lulu eat when they're having a bad day - which happens a lot. I read this book in the morning and my mouth was watering with all the foods devoured. Reading about donuts always makes me crave them.

Mysterious Saturday Review:Sinister Sprinkles

Right in the middle of the Winter Festival, someone lets out a horrifying scream as if someone's been murdered.

Darlene Higgins is dead.

Suzanne has a past with this woman - and so does her ex-husband. When Max hears he's wanted for questioning, he goes into hiding.

At first Suzanne resists poking her nose into police work, but she can't let Max go down in flames. Nor does she want him back. She simply wants to clear his name and let the town get back to normal...

My Thoughts: Each time I read one of these books (this is the 3rd in the series) I CRAVE donuts. It's impossible not to. I love this series for the tasty mouth-watering donuts, for the relationship between Suzanne and her BFF Grace, and also her relationship with her co-worker Emma. There's a just a hint of romance to shake things up a bit in this small town mystery.

Cover Thoughts: Love it! It fits in well with the rest of the covers
