Top Ten Tuesday

This week's topic is  Top Ten Best Sequels Ever . I read a lot of series books and I admit that it's hard for me to take them as separate books - but I will try. I can't not choose my favorite Harry Potter book - because I love them all, but one for sure would be on the list.

Harry Potter
Crown of Midnight
The Elite
Dark Triumph
Perfect Scoundrels
Girl in the Clockwork Collar
Taken by Storm
Mastermind Plot
Pies and Prejudice
Sweet Legacy

What about you?

Wrap up of Romance Month

Back in the beginning to February, I vowed to read only romance books during the month.

And I did it. I have a hard time limiting my reading habits.

I confess it wasn't as easy as I thought. I had a few books from the library that I really wanted to read that had no romance in it. This book in particular:

Then there was this book that I read.

I was surprised by the romance angle in it.

Then I read Angie Frazier's blog - On Writing Romance - and loved it. It was exactly was I thinking.

I think Romance books surprise many people and that everyone seems to have a little bit of a different take on romance books.

Then I got hooked on Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, except that my library didn't have them. I devoured these books (still waiting on book 7 to come in, but luckily I have book 8). I should have ordered them all at once, but I waited until I was almost done with the book to order the next two. Waiting for these books made me cranky and it was hard to read other books because they were NOT about the Bridgerton family (I long to belong a member of that family).

Also two books I was dying to read just came out at the end of the month:

I have them both now, so I'm off to read.

Mysterious Saturday Review: Mastermind Plot

*the 2nd book in the series - the first is Midnight Tunnel*

Zannah can't believe she's been invited to Boston to her grandmother's house. She's excited to see the city of Boston and to spend more time with her Uncle Bruce and learn more secrets to investigating.

When she arrives, she realizes that Uncle Bruce hasn't changed his opinion of her. He had no idea she was coming and he's not interesting in sharing any information about his new case with her.

Still, Zannah's determined to make the best of it.  She's enrolled in school at Miss Lydia Doucette's Academy for Young Ladies. There the girls pepper her with questions about the mystery she solved.

One girls isn't impressed with her. Before long, Zannah realizes that Adele's the daughter of the man who hired Uncle Bruce. Someone's setting his warehouses on fire. Adele has a theory, but Uncle Bruce refuses to listen to her ideas. Zannah, Will, and Adele share theories and start investigating the matter themselves. Will they be able to uncover the plot?

My Thoughts: I loved this book - Zannah is a wonderful character filled with curiosity, determination, stubbornness, and inquisitiveness. I loved the Boston setting. I loved Zannah's grandmother - she has the same feisty spirit as her granddaughter. I loved seeing Will again. I really enjoyed Adele's sweet and sassy nature. I loved how she undertook searching for clues herself.  I'm a big fan of this series and I can't wait to read more of Zanna's adventures. It's the perfect tween mystery series.

Cover Thoughts: Great - I love how Will and Zannah are watching something
Source: I won this from the author -Thanks Angie!
Similar Read: Enola Holmes
Release Date: Look for this March 1st.

Mysterious Saturday Review: Midnight Tunnel

** I usually do an adult mystery review on Saturday - but the last mystery failed me and this tween read was super cute! **

Suzanna’s parents run the inn Loch Harbor, New Brunswick, where many wealthy families spend the summer. Zanna’s learning the ins and outs of running the place in anticipation for her future. Zanna doesn’t want to run the inn, she’d rather become a famous detective like her Uncle. She keeps a notebook filled with observations.

When the daughter of an important guest goes missing one night during a storm, Zanna thinks she saw the girl in the servant’s tunnel. When she attempts to tell her parents, no one believes her. They don’t want to hear her nonsense.

Instead, they ask her Uncle to come. Zanna can’t wait to see her Uncle again. She’s dumbfounded when he exits the train with his apprentice, a boy her age. She’s furious when he calls her by the wrong name and dismisses her ideas.

Zanna’s determined to continue her own investigation.

My Thoughts: An adorable start to a new series provides tween readers with a great main character. Zanna has feistiness and she’s unwilling to back down from her knowledge. I loved the lush setting of the Inn and the tourists spending their summer. I wanted to be there with them. I loved the character of Isaac. He puzzled me with his secrets and his changing attitude. I loved this twists and turns of the mystery - it made a page turning read.

I did figure out the culprits - but it was still enjoyable. I'm looking forward to Zanna's next mystery!

Cover Thoughts: Adorable - I Love the wall paper.
