Review: Blazing the Trail

 * Book 3 in the Dragon Diaries series*

Zoe's torn between the two guys in her life. Jared's older and isn't in contact with her. She feels a huge spark whenever she's near him. Then there's Derek. He's a werewolf shifter who wants to turn their friendship into something more.He wants to take Zoe to the Valentine Dance.

Zoe doesn't want to lose him and while Jared has her heart, she really likes Derek. Before she can determine the next step in her love life, her dreams force her to take a deep look at the future.

Her dreams lead her to believe that the victory over the Mages will be short lived. They might have a way to Nightshade - the powerful knife. They want to kill all the young shifters  - the ones who are following Zoe into battle.

Will disagreements about plan and the future tear apart their fragile alliance? Is the future coming sooner than people believe?  Can Zoe and her friends beat impossible odds again?

My Thoughts: I really enjoy this series for the action, the danger, and the romance. I like the tension between Zoe and her high school classmates. I love her dragon friends. I liked seeing more of Jessica in this installment. I love Zoe's strength and her loyalty. I like how she attempts to figure out her dreams, which are cryptic. I can't wait to see what happens next to these characters as the battle for their lives.

Review: Winging It

*2nd in series - Flying Blind is the first book*

Zoë's still trying to figure out how to be the Wyvern - the only female shifting dragon.

She's having a hard time keeping her shape shifting a secret from her best friend. She's not allowed to tell her, but Megan knows she's keeping a secret. As a result, their friendship is strained.

When Zoë's mom leaves her father, he goes after her to persuade her to return, leaving Zoë to stay with Megan's family. She's trying to reconnect with Megan, but they just end up fighting constantly.

Zoë's invited to a party hosted by Megan's crush. Megan's angry even though Zoë has no interest in going to the party. However, she reconsiders when Megan receives her own invite. Zoë must go to protect Megan from the Mage who want to use her musical talents for evil.

How far would you go to protect your best friend?

My Thoughts: I really like this series. I love the dragon descriptions - especially the flying scenes. I love the idea of other shape-shifters and how they must work together. I like the danger, the friendship drama, the banter between Zoë and the guys. I like the potential romances. An entertaining fun read and I'm so looking forward to the next one.

Review: Flying Blind

Zoe’s been told of her future, according to the legend of her people. She is a Wyvern – a shapeshifter who can see into the past and present by dreams. There’s only one Wyvern born to a generation of the Pyr.

Zoe is the one for her generation.

However, she can’t use her powers to perform any of the Wyvern’s abilities. Since the past Wyvern is dead, there’s no one to train Zoe. She’s not forthcoming about not understanding her powers or even her failed attempts to use them.

When an incident occurs at her school, she’s packed up to boot camp. Boot camp is where the other boys her age of the Pyr use their powers to train. They work together to make themselves strong and to enhance their abilities.

Once at camp, Zoe’s dreams go up in smoke. Nothing turns out the way she imagines, not the boy she’s dreamed about for the past few years, not the camaraderie with the other Pry, and certainly not the introduction of a new girl. Zoe doesn’t know what’s happening, but something feels very strange.

Can she figure out what’s bothering her while kicking her training into overdrive?

My Thoughts: Since reading Firelight, I'm so interested in dragon novels. Lots of action and danger helps create a fast paced plot for the first book in this new series about dragons. Friendship drama and romance add to the fires, making this book an emotional read. The action and the emotions combine for an amazing read.
