Romance Review: My Fair Duchess

In an unprecedented move, Genevieve inherited a dukedom - becoming a duchess. However, she's never been taught how to manage anything properly. She writes to her godmother begging for advice. Her godmother sends alone her steward.

Archibald Salisbury must turn Lady Genevieve into a proper duchess - and he has a lot of work ahead of him. He only wishes he could get her out of his head. For a proper lady can't have a man like him - estranged from his family as he is.

Duchess lessons have never been so fun.

My Thoughts: A really fun feminist romance. I love that Genevieve inherited a dukedom. And that she wanted/needed knowledge of how to make it successful. I loved her grandmother and their relationship. I adored the letters Genevieve and Archie wrote to each other, especially the crossed out thoughts. Their banter was fun and made me chuckle several times. The best romance books have a smart funny heroine - if you like that too, read this one!

Romance Review: Duchess Deal

* First in a new series *

Emma storms the Duke's home wanting to be paid for the hideous dress she made his ex-fiancé. She deserves to be paid for her time and the payment is the only thing that will keep the roof over her head.

The Duke's former fiancé left him due to the scars he endured during the war. He revolted her. But this time he has a plan, a plan for Emma. He needs an heir and a willing bride.

Emma can't believe the Duke made her an offer of marriage - even if it does have conditions. Emma knows that she's nobody's idea of a duchess, but she has a few conditions of her own. She doesn't want a fake marriage; she wants something more.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this  book - it made me chuckle more than a few times. I loved Emma and her no nonsense ways. I loved that she didn't back down from the Duke. I loved her pet names for the Duke and how they made him react. I loved Breeches. . Of course I loved the She was warned, but nevertheless, she persisted line. I loved how she was seamstress and wanted to help her customer from reliving her previous fate. She was strong, determined, and smart. I loved the Duke - and his monster walks and how he helped others. I like how he visited Emma's father. I adored his sidekick. I loved Emma's friends and their quirks. I hope the other books are about them finding their happily ever after.

Review: It's Hard Out Here for a Duke

* Book 4 in the Keeping up with Cavendishes series *

James's world turned upside down when he discovered he's the new Duke of Durham. But he hasn't warmed up to the idea. He hasn't gotten to London yet and in his mind, until he does, it isn't true. He's not ready for it, which is why he's in the pub where he meets an intriguing woman. He spends the night with her, saddened that she left before he awoke. Without her name, it's doubtful he'll ever see her again.

But his luck is better than that; she's part of his household. She's the duchess's companion. As the new Duke attempts to learn societal rules, she's there teaching him and his sister. They share secret looks and whispered conversations. James wants her by her side, but she knows the Duke can never marry someone like her and she's not about to become a mistress. Does he have to chose between his heart and his duty?

My Thoughts: This is the final book in the series that I simply adored. I loved the Duke's relationship with his sisters. I loved how they teased each other, how they talked together, and how they stuck together. I enjoyed the stolen moments between James and Meredith. I love how the series ended.

Review: Duke in Shining Armor

* First in a new trilogy* 

Lady Olympia's supposed to get married this morning. After years, she's finally found herself a husband. But she's having a hard time saying yes to him. In fact, after a few sips of liquid courage, she means not to say yes. She escapes out the window.

The groom's best friend has one job for the wedding, make sure everything goes off without a hitch. She when he spies a lady in white running away, he follows her.  He intends to take her back to get marries, but Lady Olympia has other ideas.

Finally, he agrees to take her to her aunt's house. But the journey takes longer than he realizes. For the first time in his life, he's desperately trying to do the right thing, but nothing works out the way he expected. He certainly can't be attractive to his best friend's almost bride.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this novel. I loved the Olympia was so bookish and had a system for the library books. I love that she wore glasses. I loved that the ton thought her bookish and boring but Hugh brought out her playful side. I loved their banter and how they drove each other crazy. I enjoyed Hugh trying desperately to do the right thing for the first time in his life. I appreciated the bond between the Dukes. I really enjoyed his aunt the part she played in the story - support, comfort, and a few high jinx herself. I'm eager to read the next book in the trilogy.
