When I first saw this book, I thought it was going to be similar in format to
Our Eleanor. It wasn't, instead it was chock full of information in a manner that resembled a scrapbook. There were photos and columns of information about Abraham and Mary, their childhoods, their accomplishments, their disappointments, their quarrels, their hopes, their dreams, and their family. I learned a great deal about the Lincolns - more than I expected. Generally I don't read much nonfiction, but this book caught my eye initially because of the scrapbook idea. Soon, however, I became engrossed in the information which some I knew, but much of it I didn't. This book is a great resource for students but also great reading for someone curious.
