About the Book:
Title: TWO SUMMERS
Author: Aimee Friedman
Pub. Date: April 26, 2016
Publisher: Point
Pages: 368
Formats: Hardcover, eBook, audiobook

ONE SUMMER in the French countryside, among sun-kissed fields of lavender . . .

ANOTHER SUMMER in upstate New York, along familiar roads that lead to surprises . . .

When Summer Everett makes a split-second decision, her summer divides into two parallel worlds. In one, she travels to France, where she’s dreamed of going: a land of chocolate croissants, handsome boys, and art museums. In the other, she remains home, in her ordinary suburb, where she expects her ordinary life to continue — but nothing is as it seems.

In both summers, she will fall in love and discover new sides of herself. What may break her, though, is a terrible family secret, one she can't hide from anywhere. In the end, it may just be the truth she needs the most.

From New York Times bestselling author Aimee Friedman comes an irresistible, inventive novel that takes readers around the world and back again, and asks us what matters more: the journey or the destination.

I LOVED this book - it was the perfect summer read! Check out my review here. And I'm super happy to be part of the tour!

About Aimee:
Aimee Friedman was born and raised in Queens, New York, in an apartment filled with books and different languages. She wrote her first story at the age of five, and was off and running from there. Aimee wrote all through her years as a student at the Bronx High School of Science and then Vassar College. After graduating from college in 2001, she became a children's book editor, a job she still does, and loves, to this day! Aimee published her first novel, the New York Times bestseller, South Beach, in 2005, and is now the author of several novels for young adults, the latest being Two Summers. Aimee lives in New York City, where she can usually be found writing in cafes, window-shopping, or searching for the perfect iced latte.

Books and Treats (7)

A new blog idea inspired by Andi @ http://andiabcs.com/2014/08/01/pub-date-1/ with the Pub Date where a few bloggers share book and beer pair ups.  Andi states that the idea is the brain child of Brittany at The Book Addict’s Guide.

Two Summers

I adored Two Summers (check out my review). In Summer's vacation to France, she would walk to the bakery every morning for a bite. I adore chocolate croissants. As I was reading this book, I longed to go to the bakery and grab one too. And then walk through a charming country side.

Does a book ever make you crave food?

Review: Two Summers

Just as she's about to board the plane, a phone call pulls away Summer's attention.

If she answers the phone, it's her father canceling her trip to France at the very last minute. Now she's stuck in her small town with a best friend who isn't thrilled at having her back. Summer feels lost and alone. She takes her aunt's college photography class and begins to look at the world in a new light until her world comes crashing down.

Or

If she ignores the phone, she travels to France. There's no one to meet her at the airport. Her artist father is in Berlin for the next two weeks. Summer stays at his house with artists, At first she's scared but soon she starts exploring with her new boyfriend. Until her world comes crashing down.
My Thoughts: A YA version of the movie Sliding Doors where either path could be the true path. I adored this book.

I love how in both scenarios Summer grew and changed, allowing herself to let go. I like how she explored her world, both in New York and in France. I loved reading about her taking pictures and how she realized that she too was an artist.

In both scenarios the moment that rocked her world changes everything and I like how it happened. I liked her aunt and her mother. I liked her interactions with Hugh and Wren. Even Eloise grew on me. This book made me want to travel to France and take more pictures.

Cover Thoughts: Fun
Source: I won an ARC
Final  Thoughts: This summer read is perfect to read by the water. Be sure to grab it this summer.

I Read YA: Throwback Thursday Edition

I just finished Aimee Friedman's Two Summers (and Loved it).

Two Summers

But I've been reading Aimee's books for years. I love them!

Here's how we first met:
By accident at BEA. I was talking about a book I liked to one of my librarian friends when someone in the booth overheard me and told me the author was just down there. Lisa Ann Sandell and Aimee Friedman were there talking. It was at the time of Myspace because we were all friends and they recognized my photo.

I mentioned how I loved both of their books and we talked for a few minutes.

These were the first books of Aimee's that I read. I loved this trilogy - it was flirty, fun, and full of drama, friendship, and romance.

South Beach (Alexa & Holly, #1)French Kiss (Alexa & Holly, #2)Hollywood Hills (Alexa & Holly, #3)

I saw Aimee a few more times. Our picture was taken as we talked at the signing for Sea Change. (Did you hear the big news?)

Now every year I'd look for her, always looking for more book news. Because her books are always fantastic reads. I love them.

Have you read her books?
