Picture Book Wednesday: Not your Fairy Tales

There are not your average fairy tales...

In this story - there are four little pigs. Their mother sends them out to live their lives. One wants to be a builder, one a star, one a pumpkin, and the fourth a storyteller. 

This is a funny tale that's a little mixed up. It will help if readers know the original tale. I love the illustrations, especially the blueprints. I love the wolf who isn't trying to eat the pigs. I love that each pig has their own personality and hopes and dreams.

Hansel and Gretel get lost in the wood - but in this story they refuse to believe their parents are bad people. Or that the witch isn't a nice lady. It leads to some problems on their end but eventually, they figure everything out.

Another funny mixed-up tale. I love the gingerbread house - who wouldn't want to live there. I like Gretel's feminist touches in this story. And that ending! 

Picture Book Review: Naughty Ninja Takes a Bath

It's time for the ninja to take a bath and get cleaned up from his adventures outside. But he notices trouble inside and tries to save his father from harm. Things do NOT go as expected.

A funny picture book about not wanting to take a bath, ninja moves, one unhappy dad, and one huge mess. But the ending is sweet. A fun story to share.

Picture Book Wednesday: We Are (Not) Friends

Two friends are playing nicely together when a new friend appears. Someone feels left out!

I really liked this book - about friendship, sharing, and playing together. It was a sweet story about kindness, sharing your feelings, and making sure everyone fits in.

Picture Book Review: Eduardo Guadardo, Elite Sheep

Eduardo is finally getting his chance - he's graduating from the FBI (Fairytale Bureau of Investigations). He knows everything - except how to ask for help.

I really enjoyed this book - it's funny, entertaining, and has a great message. I love the fairy tale jokes and seeing classic fairy tale characters. The illustrations are great too! A great book to share together and perfect for school and public libraries.
