My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this British book - it reminded me of Broadchurch. There were so many twists and turns. There were multiple perspectives. I love how the characters tied everything together. I felt terrible for Ben has he death with grief and guilt for the death of his brother - only to feel the same emotions at the death of his mother years later.  This small town had lots of secrets - and not just about the death of the boys. I'm looking forward to the next Ben Harper book.

Robert Gold is the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Ben Harper series, which includes Twelve Secrets, a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, Eleven Liars and Ten Seconds. Originally from Harrogate in North Yorkshire, Robert Gold began his career as an intern at the American broadcaster CNN, based in Washington DC. Review: Geekerella

* First book in a series *

For most people, Starfield is an amazing show. But to Elle, it's so much more than that. The show is tied up with her parents' memories (both now deceased). A movie is now being filmed, so publicity is ramping up.

When she spies show's Con will have a cosplay contest, she knows that she must enter. She finds her parents' old costumes in the attic. Elle's co-worker volunteers to help Elle re-fit the costume for her body.

Elle must keep both her co-worker's new friendship and the Con a secret from her family. They will ruin it for her or worse - forbid her to attend. She vows not to let them ruin her chance.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this retelling of Cinderella. I loved how Elle and her "prince" met and started to communicate. I enjoyed the growing friendship between Sage and Elle. Obviously I felt heartbroken for Elle with her home situation. But I did love her blog and her dedication to the famdom. I loved the love for fandoms this book showcased. I quite enjoyed the secondary love plot. And I'm looking forward to the second and third book.

Review: Rescue on the Oregon Trail

Ranger just wants to dog for bones in the yard and chase squirrels. But when he comes across a metal box that's certainly not a bone, something changes. Instantly he's transported back in the time. He's not sure what's happening to him or where Luke is - but a boy needs his helping finding his sister.

Ranger can do that. He sniffs her out. He assumes his job is done, but he remains in the 1850s. The grateful family invite him on their trip with them. Without Luke, Ranger isn't sure what to do. But he doesn't want to leave the only people he knows, so he follows them.

He helps them along the way, wondering how he's going to get back home.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book. It reminded me of the computer game we played as kids. I checked for a picture - and this is one of the first ones that came up. As Babymouse would say - Typical.

This book had everything I remember from the game. Getting supplies, crossing the rivers, sickness, and making hard choices because of the weather and timing.  I really liked Sam and his family. I loved Ranger throughout the story. I love how he gets distracted by squirrels! I wanted to give him a giant hug. He was so brave and so helpful. I can't wait to see where he goes next. Lots of action and danger in this book, which made me turn the pages to see what happened next.
