Board Books (11) Animals

I've been sharing some new board books purchased recently for the library.

These are animal themed:

Lots of animals and their parents in this touch and feel book - some textures, some flaps, and a mirror at the end. This is cute and classic with Eric Carle art.

Great for a baby shower gift!

I love this series. It's my go to series for baby shower gifts because of the touch and feel part. And the photos are great too. A short but sweet introduction to animals. 

This title is a little misleading because this is a super cute story about say goodnight to several animals. Another great touch and feel book. And the illustrations are gorgeous.

Great photographs showcases these animals. I love the set up - breaking animals into different categories. It makes it easy for parents and children to talk about different animals, geography, colors....

Learn all about Sloths from animals asking the sloth questions. Cute illustrations. Strong Lift the Flaps share more information. 

Babies ask the reader who their mommy is. Great illustrations. Shares the name/term for the animal and the baby. I love the ending questions.

Books fit for a Prince

When Charlotte was born, I created a post of books fit for a princess, so I thought I would do the same for Baby Sussex. 

As the first child in the family, it's the perfect time to gift books. Classic books are great, but often the same times pop up at baby showers.

I like to go in a different direction.

So here are my choices:

Baby Shower Books to Gift

While baby showers happen all year round, it seems like this time of year, they happen more. I always like to buy books for gifts (Librarian) and I know it's popular for the hostess to ask everyone to bring a book to start off the child's library.

And you get multiple copies of Goodnight Moon, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, or Moo Baa La La La - all of which are fine books, but you don't need four copies of each.

Here's what I like to gift:

First mostly board books, for endurance.

Second, I LOVE the touch and feel books and there are So Many to chose from.  There's lots of pieces to touch and interact with the child.

Third: I Love concept books, it's never to early to learn, especially those from National Geographic. They have bright colors and great photographs.

 

Fourth, I Love these classic stories told as board books. They're not a retelling of the story, just using bits from the story as an introduction.
