Picture Book Review: We Will Rock Our Classmates

Penelope (a T-rex) can't wait for her talent show. She's going to show her class that she can rock! But standing up in front of everyone can be scary!

This is the second book starring Penelope Rex. And it's just as adorable as the first book. I love the artwork. It's ok to be shy and scared. I love the message about being brave and letting your friends help you. I also loved the message that everyone has a talent and that can be anything you want to be. I hope there are more Penelope Rex books coming. Another great funny book from Ryan T. Higgins.

PS. Ponies! That was funny.

Library Recommendation: This is a must have book for you school and public library!

Children's Book Review:Creepy Pair of Underwear

From the moment Jasper sees an advertisement for this new underwear, he must have it. He's definitely old enough for it. But at night, when the lights go out, you can still see the green glow. No matter what Jasper does to get rid of his creepy underwear, it always comes back.

A great cover and great illustrations will have readers picking up this book. It's creepy and fun. A winning combination! Plus who doesn't love a story about underwear? Readers will love this one. 

Picture Book Review: No More Bows

Milly Loves her dog so much. She also loves dressing him in bows. Hugo hates the bows. The other dogs laugh at him and he attempts to take the bows off. He's so frustrated with Milly that he runs away. But on his adventures, he spots a shop that might solve their problem.

I really loved this book. I love how Hugo solved his problem, because he really does love Milly. I loved that he outsmarted the bully dogs laughing at him. I love how he knows what he likes. A really cute book that readers will enjoy. 

Picture Book Review: Happy Birthday Madame Chapeau

Madame Chapeau makes one of a kind hats for her shop - they're all unique and suited for the buyer. But when she's headed to her birthday dinner with her favorite hat, disaster strikes. A crow snatches her hat. Although many people offer her their hats to wear, none of them are quite right - until one of them is perfect.

A heartwarming tale about hats made with love and a strong community who help each other out. Great illustrations - and if they seem familiar, this is the team from Rosie Revere, Engineer. 

I love hats, so it's no surprise that I loved this book. Just an adorable read filled with fashionable hats and a sweet message. 

Picture Book Review: Wait

A little boy and his mother walk through town. He looks at everything, taking his time. His mother wants him to hurry. He asks to wait. They reach the train but see something they both want to stop and look at.

I love the push and pull of this narrative. While there aren't many words on the page, this story packs a punch. I love the idea of slowing down and taking in your surroundings. It's great to have that reminder. That's why the pictures are crucial to the story, they make the story pop. 

I would love to use this story in story time.

Picture Book Review: Raindrops Roll

A nature nonfiction picture book on rain and the water cycle.

I loved this book - great photography that matches the text. The perfect book to uses in beginning to understand rain and water  - especially with the added information in the back of the book. I poured over these photographs, savoring them.

I found this book after reading Best in Snow and I hope more nature books are in the works. 

Get this one for both your public and school libraries!
