Middle Grade Review: Ghost of a Chance

 * Book 2 in the 100 Dresses series *
The castle has calmed down since Darling thwarted evil plans, until a ghost is on the loose. Or at least, that's what Darling and her friends think. Items have gone missing - either stolen or replaced in weird positions.

Darling even has trouble with the Princess and her nemesis. Stuck in trouble until she can solve the mystery, Darling's working hard to keep her nose clean during the day and solve the mystery at night. With the help of her two friends, they're determined to find the castle ghost.

At least Darling has the help of the dresses to assist her in a disguise. But once that backfires, things get ugly. She can't reveal the truth about anything and it's hurting her standing in the castle. Can she solve the mystery before the Princess banishes her?
My Thoughts: I loved this book. I loved learning more about the castle and the people working in it. I love that Darling was nice to her nemesis - even if it did cost her. I like how she worked hard to make up for the disappointment. I loved the library scenes. I love how Darling and Roger chance the ghost - even though it creeps her out. I love how learns more about her family, especially her mother.  That ending was sweet. I hope there are many more books planned in this series.

Cover Thoughts: Cute!

Review: If the Magic Fits

 * Book 1 in a new series *

Darling Dimple lives in an enchanted castle, guarding by sleeping dragons. As a pot scrubber, her day dreaming gets the better of her. When the wardrobe mistress comes looking for a laundry presser, Darling's recommended for a job that will require attention to detail. Darling isn't thrilled about the new position.

But she soon learns about the closet filled with 100 dresses. These older dresses aren't your average dress as she soon discovers. Once you put on the dress, you become someone else.

Darling's excited to meet the Princess. But when she overhears a suitor hoping to take advantage of her, Darling knows it's up to her to uncover his castle spy and to stop them both from overtaking the Castle.  Thankfully, she has 100 dresses to help her and some friends both human and animal. Can she uncover the traitors before they take over the castle and ruin everything?
My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this book.  I loved Darling - how she day dreamed, how she told her friends stories, and how determined she was to help. I liked how she figured out about the dresses. I felt badly for her dealing with the other Princess's Girls, but in the head, I like how that worked out. I can't wait to read more about about Darling and her friends. And I wouldn't mind wearing one of those dresses! A charming story.
