Review: Born to Dance

37585541

This book celebrates moments of joy in childhood - and it's amazing.
This book follows Dancers Among Us (which I adored). I read an ARC and when I was standing in line, the author mentioned that the book will be different - so now I'm looking forward to the release date to see the final product. I really enjoyed these photos. It's hard picking favorites, but here are a few that I adored:

It's the perfect book for sharing!

Picture Book Review: Trailblazers

Trailblazer: The Story of Ballerina Raven Wilkinson

The story of Raven Wilkinson  - the first African American woman to dance for a major ballet company.

The title says it all: a wonderful tale about her courage, determination, and race. I loved learning about her love of dancing. She struggled but achieved so much. I love that she's the inspiration for Misty Copeland (who wrote the forward). I love the pictures of the two of them at the end. A powerful book to share with anyone, but especially those who love dancing!

Dancers Among Us

14841582I heard about this book at BEA last year and I was finally able to get my hands on a copy - I just LOVED the idea so much! Basically, it's a book of photographs of dancers in normal settings.

This book blew me away. I loved the photographs. There was so much emotion displayed. I starred at the photographs in wonder. They made me smile. They made me laugh. They made me think.

My favorites are the girl reading outside a building that looks to be a college dorm along with the cram session inside a college library. No wonder that both of them have to do with books.

A brilliant beautiful book that's perfect for sharing.
