Picture Book Wednesday: More Animal Books

I know that Tails and  Tales is over for most of us. But you really can't have too many animal books.

Here are a few recent reads that I really enjoyed.

A picture book biography of Helen Martini who was the first woman zookeeper for Bronx Zoo. She othered tiger cubs in her home and then at the zoo. She worked with lots of other animals, creating a job for herself.

This was a fascinating read. I loved her determination and how she didn't ask for permission - she just charged ahead. A fun picture book for older readers.

So many different cats to count. I loved the creativity of this super fun read. Perfect for cat lovers of all ages.

A step-by-step instruction manual for taking care of your lion. Love the illustrations. Lots of humor. One to read again and again

Picture Book Review: Can I Be Your Dog?

31315330

A homeless dog lives in a box, but wishes to find himself a home. He writes to everyone on the street asking if he can be their dog.

It's a sweet funny story that will tug at your heartstrings.  It's a little sad, but the ending is adorable. I loved the illustrations. I also loved how the book was written in letters. Super cute and perfect for dog lovers!
After the story, there's an author's note about helping homeless animals.
