So when a series of cyberattacks hits key locations in London while the spies are testing security for the British Museum, it’s clear that Kat’s skill for finding reason in what seems like randomness makes her the perfect candidate to lead the job.

And while the team follows the deciphered messages to Egypt and the ancient City of the Dead to discover who is behind the attacks and why, Kat soon realizes that there’s another layer to the mystery.

 My Thoughts:

Ok, I love this series - for so many reasons. Check out my past reviews. The fourth book in the series was better than ever! I loved going to Egypt with the gang. I loved the addition to the family - although that ending freaking me out a bit. I loved seeing the team together again in action. Lots of action, danger, and plot twists here. I can't wait to see where this series goes next. This is one of my favorite middle grade series and I recommend it at the library a lot!

Blog Tour: Live Your Best Lie

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the LIVE YOUR BEST LIE by Jessie Weaver Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

About The Book:

Title: LIVE YOUR BEST LIE (Volume 1) (Like Me Block You)

Author: Jessie Weaver

Pub. Date: January 24, 2023

Publisher: Melissa de la Cruz Studio

Formats: Hardcover, eBook, Audiobook

Pages: 368

Find it: Goodreadshttps://books2read.com/LIVE-YOUR-BEST-LIE

Sometimes the prettiest Instagram feeds mask the darkest, and bloodiest, secrets.

Social media influencer Summer Cartwright leads a very charmed life: millions of followers, the hottest designer and vintage clothes at her fingertips, a newly minted book deal, the coolest friends, and, until recently, the hottest boyfriend at her über-elite prep school. Every moment of her life has been carefully planned and cultivated to complement her “imperfectly perfect” social media persona. She is truly #LivingHerBestLife.

But when Summer goes missing during her annual Halloween party and then an unscheduled post appears on her feed stating that she’ll be dead within the next five minutes, those closest to Summer know something isn’t quite right―or on-brand. Grace, Summer’s camera-shy best friend; Adam, Summer’s gamer ex-boyfriend; Laney, Summer’s moody camp roommate; and Cora, an influencer wannabe, all decide to investigate. And when they come upon Summer’s lifeless body, they soon realize that no filter is strong enough to mask the lies we tell ourselves.

Told in multiple POVs interspersed with social media posts and flashbacks, Live Your Best Lie has twists and turns that will keep readers turning the page and no one will be able to guess the ending.

My Thoughts: I enjoy a good thriller - and this one is good. I like the multiple POVs. I like the social media posts. I like the flashbacks. I'm only halfway through it but I can't stop reading it. I need to know what happened. From the #toxic influencer's famous party to her famous death, secrets about to be spilled. Four people are named as suspects for the murder - and it looks like they all have motive. Plus, there's all dealing with their grief - each in a different way. I like that they team up to solve the murder - or at least has much as you can. There's no trust here. No real friendship. But there are some great one liners. This one reads like a movie - in the very best way. Head over to my Insta account to see my post there.

I'm both excited to see what this debut author writes next AND to see where Melissa de la Cruz's publishing line goes.

Blog Tour: Lords of Night

I am thrilled to be hosting a spot on the THE LORDS OF NIGHT by J.C. Cervantes Blog Tour hosted by Rockstar Book Tours. Check out my post and make sure to enter the giveaway!

About The Book:

Title: THE LORDS OF NIGHT (A Shadow Bruja Novel Book 1)

Author: J.C. Cervantes

Pub. Date: October 4, 2022

Publisher: Rick Riordan Presents

Formats: Hardcover, eBook, audiobook

Pages: 320

Find it: GoodreadsAmazon, Kindle, Audible, BandN, iBooks, Kobo, TBD, Bookshop.org

Best-selling author Rick Riordan presents J. C. Cervantes's exciting new spin-off from the best-selling STORMRUNNER trilogy.

"This duology opener is accessible to readers who are new to this world. An engrossing, god-filled delight."--Kirkus Reviews

Fourteen-year-old Renata Santiago is the most powerful godborn of them all, a bruja with a unique combination of DNA. The Mexica blood from her dad's side gives her the ability to manipulate shadows. Her mom Pacific, a Maya goddess, gifted her a magical rope that controls time, and Ren recently used it to save a few gods from getting stuck forever in 1987. She brought them back to the present, but her BFF Ah Puch, the once fearsome god of death, darkness, and destruction, is now a teenager with no divine powers.

Ren is also a girl with ordinary hopes and dreams. She wishes, for example, that her blog about alien sightings would garner more respect. She's always been absolutely convinced that there's a connection between aliens and the Maya civilization. Plenty of online haters feel differently, and they call her a fake, a liar, and a loser.

When Ren receives an email about an alien sighting in Kansas, she thinks it may support her theory. She also suspects that the cinco--five renegade godborns--are up to no good. Soon she finds herself embroiled in a quest to prevent the troublemakers from awakening the nine Aztec Lords of Night. Problem is, none of Ren's friends are available to help her hunt down the cinco and the dangerous gods they are resurrecting. Ren has no choice but to team up with two strangers recruited by Ah Puch: Edison, a teen hybrid demon, and Montero, an eleven-year-old Aztec hunter. Succeeding in this quest will prove that Ren is no fake, liar, or loser. But it isn't just another challenge. It could well be an impossible one that leaves Ren questioning her very existence.

Anyone who enjoys fast-paced myth-based adventures will be swept up in this one featuring Maya and Mexica gods and their magical offspring.

My Thoughts:

Ok, So I didn't read the Stormrunner trilogy (yet). Do I wish I did? (Yes). Did I need it? Not exactly, I think I would have understood more had I read them. I didn't realize the books were connected until I started reading.

Lots of action, danger, and magical elements in this one. I enjoyed how the friends tried to puzzle out the prophecy and understand what was happening around them. I loved the friendship moments.

That cliff-hanger ending makes me want the next book immediately! I need to know what happens next!

Action! Humor! Fantasy! This new series opener is a tour de force from international bestseller Jonathan Stroud.

Scarlett McCain is an outlaw, a bank robber and a sharp shooter--a girl of formidable skills. Fueled by a tragic injustice in her past, she travels the broken kingdoms of England alone, carrying out daring heists in the surviving towns and fending off monstrous beasts in the wilds outside their fortified walls. Her life is dangerous, free, and simple--until she finds a wrecked bus on a lonely road. Albert Browne, the sole survivor of the accident, is a seemingly innocent and harmless youth. Against her better judgement, Scarlett agrees to escort him to safety.

This is a mistake. They are soon pursued by men with dogs and guns and explosives. Scarlett is used to running from the law, but these trackers are the most skilled she's ever encountered--and they don't seem to be after her. Just who is this Albert Browne Scarlett must uncover his shocking secrets if either of them are going to survive.

Praise For THE OUTLAWS SCARLETT AND BROWNE:

"Stroud is a genius.” —Rick Riordan, bestselling author of the Trials of Apollo

My Thoughts:

Scarlett and Albert make an unlikely pair of friends. But despite the odds: Scarlett's problem with her past and Albert's secrets - they make a good team. After of course they save each other's lives and learn how to trust each other.

Lots of action and danger make this one a page turner.
