Picture Book Review: Three Kings Day

Here are a few picture books celebrating Three Kings Day:

Marta is nervous to eat a slice of la Rosca De Reyes because she's scared she might actually eat the little figurine of baby Jesus.

This is a great introduction to Three Kings Day. I loved how Marta was anxious but worked out her anxiety with problem solving. There's an author's note that share details of the holiday.

Lucia is worried that because she now lives in Ohio, the Three Kings won't find her and she'll have nothing to leave them as the ground is covered in snow.

Another great introduction to Three Kings Day - but this time it's about tradition and the celebrations of the holiday. I loved the contrast between the moments in Ohio and the past in Puerto Rico. There's an author's note here too - which describes the holiday celebrations in different countries.

Similar to A Night Before Christmas, this book shares the story of one family gathered together to celebrate.

Another great story about celebration and family. This book has a glossary of Spanish words and an author's note about how the author came to celebrate this holiday.

* I like the Easter Egg of the book about the librarian Pura Belpre
