Tween Tuesday Review: Kitchen Chaos

* First in a series * 

Liza and Frankie have been best friends forever. But their social studies group project requires three people. They team up with the new girl Lillian. Liza's excited to befriend Lillian, but Frankie's unsure about it. She doesn't want to mess up their friendship dynamic.

Liza comes up with an idea for their project - discovering new foods. It's perfect because her favorite chef is offering cooking classes. She gets Lillian and Frankie to also sign up with their moms.

But not everyone's excited about cooking classes. Can Liza steer this project into a win-win for everyone?

My Thoughts: Super fun read! I loved this book. I loved the look at friendships when a new friend comes into the picture and how it changes everything. I loved seeing the girls interact with their mothers at the cooking classes. I loved Chef Antonio. I loved how each of the girls had their own perspective in the story. I liked the diverseness of the three girls and how they started to learn about their backgrounds for their project. Lots of drama, lots of food, and great friendships. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

Adult Mini Review: Because of Miss Bridgerton

* First in a new series *

Billie Bridgerton can't believe the scrap she just got herself into trying to help a cat. Now she's stuck on top of a roof with a hurt ankle and no way down. She's waiting for someone to come along - but of course the one person who comes along is the one person she can't stand.

George Rokesby is an old family friend. Unfortunately Billie and he have never been friends. She adores his brothers, but George seems condescending and annoying. But once he becomes her white knight, emotions begin to shift.  

The Good:
* The start of a new series, so we'll see these characters again
* The banter between Billie and George
* Billie's tomboy ways
* Billie's knowledge of the land and her working the land
* Billie wearing breeches
* Billie's way with the Rokesby brothers
* The Pall Mall game
* The mallet of the death
* The closeness of the families
* Mother maniupalation tricks
* Enemies to Lovers
* Slow romance

The Bad:
* We have to wait for more news about Edward

Final Thoughts: Get yourself to a library or bookstore and grab this one up if you love historical romances.

Summer Reading: Display Ideas

I'm starting to think more and more about summer and trying to get everything ready to go to make it as smooth as possible. Summer's always super busy, but super fun. I love interacting with all the readers that come into the library and helping them pick out a book to read. And I love making displays to entice readers into picking up a great looking book.

My first novel I wrote was in verse. Every now and then I like to play around with words and form poems. It started mostly after my college class. So I thought I'd share a few with you this month. Happy National Poetry Month!

Mini Review: Dark Tide

 * Book 3 in the Waterfire Saga * 

The six mermaids are still trying to save the world, but the danger gets greater with every passing moment. We learn their secrets, uncover news from their past, and hope that they can actually save the world.

The Good:
I love learning Astrid's secret and how it changed the mission
I loved the romance plots
I loved the danger and the action
I loved the help from the rest of the world (not in on the evil plot)
I loved learning more about their characters and their past
I loved seeing the mermaids become more self confident
That ending!!

The Bad:
The Book is over (but there's two months until book 4 (the final book) comes out)

Final Thoughts: This series is fantastic: super fun, strong female characters, friendship, romance, and saving the world. What more could you want?
