Blog Tour: Summertime Sillies Blog Tour

Are you in need of some laughs?

Then look no further than these two books:

Sweet and Sour are neighbors and the complete opposite. But they might have more in common than they think.

Herbet and his family move to a neighborhood full of people for their mom's job. But Herbet is the only one in his family who likes to snack on people...

They’re legally brined.

BBWA: 5 Books that Represent Me

Pride and PrejudiceThe Princess Diaries (The Princess Diaries, #1)
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books that I discovered in high school (thanks to Clueless)
I discovered The Princess Diaries in graduate school and it lead to me becoming a YA Librarian

841061Loves Music, Loves to Dance
Winter Dreams, Christmas Love was an early romance that I read and adored. I wanted more books just like it.
Loves Music, Loves to Dance was my first jump into adult books in 7th grade. There wasn't too many YA novels that I read, but I tore through Mary Higgins Clark.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)
I discovered the Harry Potter series thanks to my Dad when I was in college. I fell hard for Harry and his friends after the end of the first chapter. I love Hermoine who's bookish and brave, smart and pretty, and loyal.

Honorable Mentions:
Throne of Glass because I love books about strong feisty characters who kick butt
Book of Three: Based on Welsh mythology (I'm 1/4 Welsh) and an excellent high fantasy book

BBAW: What Book Blogging Means to Me

I first started blogging on Myspace. Remember when that was cool? I wanted to showcase books we had coming into the library and I also wanted to be able to keep track of the books I read. My early reviews weren't really reviews - but I was highlighting the books I read and sharing them with my followers.

On Friday October 3rd 2008 I made the change to Blogger and I've been here every since. I've updated my background - learned a little bit about HTML. This past summer, I had it custom designed by a fellow book blogger ICEY BOOKS.

*Blogging means that I know about books months ahead of time, which is perfect for my job.
*Blogging means that I can say to a patron, I haven't read that book, but I've heard good things about it - which is awesome because I'll never be able to read all the books I want to read. Yet, I can read and share what others think.
*Blogging means that I have an outlet to talk about books and to share my thoughts about books. I may not have the most followers or the most comments, but I blog for me.
*Blogging means gushing over the books that I love. I don't usually post about books I don't finish or books that I did finish but were mediocre. Thus, I my review tend to have the word love in them.
*Blogging means a community of people who understand teen literature and/or teen librarianship and I can go to those communities if I have a question (or ten)

I love the community of book bloggers - how they share their knowledge and information. I'm happy to be apart of it!

Book Blogger Appreciation Week: Thanks

I LOVE being a book blogger. I love conversations about books with strangers about books I've read, books they're reading, and upcoming books. I love talking about them in comments, on Twitter, on Facebook...or in person.

What I love best about reading other blogs is finding out about books:
Books I didn't know about, but can't wait to read.
Books I didn't realize were coming out soon
Books that aren't my cup of tea, but would be perfect for my teens readers at the library.

So Thanks!

Thanks for making me smile, for making me think about books, and for letting me share my bookish thoughts with you!

Why Giving Books =s the BEST gift

I really like this video
plus I LOVE getting books
I just took out new books that came in yesterday...even though I probably shouldn't have.

I'm just greedy with books. I swear though, I didn't take all that I wanted, leaving some for other readers.

Thanks to Jennifer Echols' site
for the video!

My B&N

Check out my new Barnes and Noble page, kinda like shelfari, but a little different. It's hard keeping up with all the books I'm reading, want to read, and have read, but it's also really fun too.

I stumbled across this:

At a recent library conference, librarians proved once again they ROCK!

Style from the Stacks:
Project Runway at ILA
Book jacket met evening jacket. MARC records met Marc Jacobs. The library world met the fashion world on Thursday, 25 September at the ILA Annual Conference. Conceived by 2008 ILA Annual Conference Program Committee member Maria Pontillas of the Glenview Public Library, the event was based on the popular Bravo Television series, Project Runway. Library staff members were encouraged to submit design proposals inspired by libraries and literature

Here are my two favorites:

Schaumburg Township District Library
Carrie Van Eaton, "Book Jacket"

Cicero Public Library
Victoria Correa, "Party Librarian"
