Picture Book Wednesday: Family Books

I read a few books recently about family. So I'm grouping them together. We have a family picture book section at my library. And we have a stories section. Often the family stories go into the stories section because they will be found more in that section. But I'm trying to change that a little bit.

Here are some new family picture books:

Daisy's excited to meet her grandfather. He lives in China and he's coming to visit. Daisy can't wait to do all her favorite things with her grandfather. But he's not as jolly as she imagined he would be. Can she make him smile before he leaves?

Yeh-Yeh shows his love in other ways. I love how Daisy and her Grandpa find a way to make each other smiles. This is a sweet story and timely given how we can't see our families right now. I love Daisy's determination and problem solving.

Maud spends special Saturdays with her Grandmother. They wear their matching night gowns, eat dinner for breakfast, and watch black and white movies. Grand-Maud always has something special for her - sometimes it's something to do or something to wear. Best of all, Maud knows she will carry the traditions to her own grandchild.

A sweet story about tradition and the special bond between a grandmother and grandchild. This book made me miss my own grandmother. 

Lulu's father isn't like most father. He travels the world. And each time he comes home, he brings something for Lulu. Lulu can't wait until she's old enough to join him on his travels.

I loved this sweet story about traveling, sharing stories from around the world, and presents that spark the imagination. And I loved the ending when the pair did travel together. A great story to talk about geography and different cultures.

A little girl talks about all the things she loves most in the world.

I love how everything is tied together in this story - until the very sweet end.

All of these books are fantastic for your picture book collection in your school and public libraries.
