Happy National Library Week!

Today is take action for libraries day.

So, I'm here to ask you:

When was the last time you visited your library? Checked out an item? Attended a program?

Libraries have SO MUCH to offer everyone!

Here's a little bit about my library usage.

I'm the best and worst library patron.

Currently I have:
102 books checked out (several of these are for storytime and library programs)
15 books on hold

Both of these are kind of average. I check out a lot of books.
While I read a lot of books, I don't always get to read everything I check out.

Try to visit your library soon! It really does help.

Happy National Library Week

It's National Library Week - or as I like to call it a week.

I know things are vastly different this year in our celebrations.

But did you know that many libraries are offering digital cards if you didn't have a card?

You can use your library card to gain access to ebooks, movies, magazines, and so much more.

Many of us are also doing virtual programming. They're sharing information about the virus and activities for families to do together online.

My library started a youtube channel where the staff has been creating videos. We've had pet week and now library week. Next week is farm week. Who knows what kind of videos we'll shoot next!

It's a different world out there, but libraries and librarians and library staff are doing their best to still connect with their patrons and still provide the services we can while keeping everyone safe!

So when America opens again and it's save, give some support to your libraries. Go in and check out a few books.

Until then, enjoy the videos.

Poem for National Library Week

Poetry and libraries collide!

Here's a poem I wrote last year:

Not a day goes by
when I don't read.
Reading is the air
I breathe.
Words transport me to other worlds.
Words wrap themselves around me
in a warm hug.
Words make me feel
like I'm never alone.

Top Ten Tuesday: Fictional Libraries I Want to Visit

I'm changing up this week's top ten because it's National Library Week, so I'm talking about Libraries in books.

Of course this is the first library the comes to mind!

And obviously the second!

Other libraries in no particular order:
Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1)Books Can Be Deceiving (Library Lover's Mystery, #1)The Grimm Legacy (The Grimm Legacy, #1)Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library (Mr. Lemoncello's Library #1)Ink and Bone (The Great Library, #1)
13083239Aru Shah and the End of Time by Roshani Chokshi

And I don't know, but it seems like a superhero library would be amazing!

Happy National Library Week!

It's National Library Week!

I'm hoping that everyone goes out to visit their public library this week.
If you don't have a card, please get one.
And then check out a handful (or more) of books or other items.
Attend a program while you're there - check out the newsletter for all the details.

Both having a card and checking out items really helps your library grow. We use those statistics to ask for more money for books. We can't get more money for books if the circulation is decreasing (and we're on a nation wide decreasing trend).

Did you know:
Libraries offer tons of programs all year round, but especially in the summer.
Libraries often have discounted tickets to local museums that you can check out.
We work with community organizations to help support the town/city
We are not places of quiet
We have tons of programs for people of ALL ages, not just story times.
We have a variety of programs to match the community: game clubs, food programs, local history, and so much more.
We're NOT just about books but of course we like books.

If you haven't been to your local library in a while, this week is the perfect time to stop in and say hello!
