I'm excited for the second season of Agent Carter. I can't wait to see how she takes Hollywood by storm.

Review: Black Window: Forever Red

Natasha Romanov doesn't like to think of her past, especially Ivan. SHIELD sent her back to Russia years ago to kill him. She did - but she also rescued Ava. She promises to look after Ava, but it's too painful.

She leaves Ava in the care of SHIELD, but Ava doesn't enjoy her time there. She escapes and lives on the streets. When she and her friend start taking fencing lessons, things change. They find a tournament. Trouble follows them.

Turns out Ivan didn't die and he's coming for both Ava and Natasha. Together with a friend of Ava's, they go on the run. Can they face their past and work together to make a better future?

My Thoughts: I LOVE Black Widow from the MARVEL movies and was so happy to see this book! 

I liked how both heroines had to face their horrible past and learn how to move past it. I loved the strength of both Ava and Natasha. Natasha was bold. She made choices and didn't look back, even though the choices were tough. She did was did to survive. I liked the inclusion of the classified documents. I liked their different reactions to family, friends, and trust. I really liked the moments between Ava and Alex, from how they met to their relationship. I wasn't prepared for that ending! I hope there are more Black Widow books coming soon

Mini Review: Storm Season

 *  volume 2 in the series *

Derrick Storm sees a ghost from his past while working a case. He's been hired to help a woman recover money she lost. Everything should have gone smoothly, but the man she identified as the con artist, comes to Derrick asking for help.


He's looking to find his missing sister, who disappeared. As Derrick digs into the case, he uncovers a dangerous criminal organizations - along with his old CIA partner.

My Thoughts: I'm so happy to learn more about Derrick Storm - with great illustrations, lots of action, lots of danger, and a hint of romance. I hope these graphic novels continue!

Monday Matinee: The Avengers

After watching Iron Man and the rest of the super-hero movies, I was excited to see The Avengers. I watched in on Saturday afternoon and couldn't have been happier.

The action was great - lots of fighting, blowing things up, and or course the best part the Hulk.

The super effects were cool

The villain was creepy.  He was oily, smug, and irritating.

They came together as a team...eventually and after they almost killed each other

The humor was perfection - there was great tension between Tony Stark and well, everyone, but especially with Captain America.

The one criticism I have: I didn't know anything about Hawkeye (including his name). I would have liked some more information about him and his character.

Ironman is still my favorite of the Avengers, he's hard to beat.

Plus all the super heroes had an equal amount of screen time, which seems like it would be really hard to do.

I swear I saw Blake Griffin in the Kneel scene. Anyone else see that?

I liked that the actress from Growing Pains had a small role, I recognized her almost immediately.

There are 2 moments to see after the movie. I only saw the first as I was unaware of the second.

This looks SO flipping cool! I can't wait to watch it.

Adult Review: Deadly Storm

Derrick Storm, PI is out chasing down a lead to his latest case. Instead of a simple - man's cheating on his wife chase, he finds himself in the midst of an FBI investigation. When asked to help with the investigation, Storm finds himself trying to right a wrong - even if his dad believes he's being played. After all, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship.

My Thoughts: I'm a HUGE Castle fan, so I was ecstatic when I heard about this book. I've always wanted to know more about Derrick Storm and now I'm hooked! The story was fun, exciting, and very entertaining. It read like a Castle episode - I couldn't put it down. The art was phenomenal. Here's hoping this only the beginning for Derrick Storm!

Pride and Prejudice: The Graphic Novel

As I was reading my roundup of blogs this week, something at NineTeen caught my eye. I'm a sucker for Jane Austen and adore reading books set in the same period (The Season, Petite Four, and Bewitching Season) Marvel is making Pride and Prejudice into a graphic novel. Here's more news if you're interested - including some graphics. There's even a picture of Mr. Darcy. I know that I'll be reading it...
