Tween Tuesday Reivew: My Fake Boyfriend's Better than Yours

Tori's worried about the first day of 7th grade. Usually, she and her best friend Sienna have planned their outfit for ages. Tori's not even sure if her BFF is talking to her.

Sienna's family suddenly turn wealthy. They went away on vacation for the summer. Sienna started writing Tori emails, but all of sudden, the emails stopped.

Tori's hesitant to go talk to Sienna when she spies her at school. Sienna's talking to a bunch of popular girls. Tori heads over to join their group.

She finds a huge surprise. Sienna's talking about her wonderful vacation and her new cute boyfriend. As time goes on, Tori's tired of hearing about Sienna's boyfriend. Before she realizes what happened, Tori's made up a boyfriend of her own. A boyfriend that manages to top whatever cute thing Sienna's boyfriend just did.

There's just one problem. A dance is coming up - one that both boyfriends have been invited to attend. What will happen when Tori's "boyfriend" doesn't appear?

My Thoughts: A cute book about middle school, first boyfriends, and the dramas of friendships. I liked the secondary girl characters - whom Tori great to become friends with. I liked the relationship that Tori has with her father. I love how the two girls grow apart but find a way to talk about their differences.

Cover Thoughts: I like the toy look. it's pretty funny.

Review: Just Your Average Princess

Jamie's cousin is coming to stay for the fall. Jamie remembers having a great time with her when they were really young. When Milan steps out of the truck in her thousand dollar shoes and into something gross, Jamie realizes her cousin might have changed.

She's willing to give her cousin the benefit of doubt. When Milan starts comments on Jamie's hair, clothes, and lack of fun, Jamie begins to have second thoughts.

Milan starts flirting with Danny, the boy Jamie's been crushing over for two years. Then Milan decides to run for Pumpkin Princess. Jamie's been dreaming of wearing that tiara for years. Suddenly it's war and both Jamie and Milan are campaigning.

Who will come out the reigning champion?

My Thoughts: I really loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I loved the fall theme: the pumpkin patch, the caramel apples, and the whole farm. It made me envision the perfect fall day. I really liked Jamie and Sara. I do wish there had been more moments with Danny. He didn't seem to have a big part. Besides his hotness factor, there wasn't really much we learned about him. Overall I loved it - lighthearted and charming. The perfect fall book.

Cover Thoughts: I really liked the uniqueness of this cover - but it doesn't really match the book. It's not the dress she wears. Nor are their pumpkins. Still, it's cute.

Espressologist

Jane had a crazy idea - she started writing down the types of coffees people ordered and created personality characteristics based on their drink of choice. At first, it was just something she did in her spare time at the coffee shop where she works. But when a regular customer comes in with news that he's now single, Jane looks through her book of coffee matches to find him the perfect date. When she does the same for her co-worker, Jane realizes that she's found something unique. Unfortunately, when her boss overhears her and her BFF talking about the results, he forces the truth out of them. Then he realizes Jane's talent will be perfect for their holiday promotion idea. She will set up couples who walk in and order coffee based on their drink choice and one tidbit of information. Jane's freaked out when she's put on the spot. Will this best the best promotion ever or will Jane die of humiliation?

A cute romantic tale perfect for this time of year. Love the cover - it grabbed my attention right away. Throw in a friendship drama, work issues, and a dash of school with the romance and you've got yourself fun read with a side of coffee craving.
