Mysterious Saturday Review: It Takes a Witch

Darcy and her sister have just moved to Enchanted Village after their father died. Upon his death, they learn the truth about their lives. They are Wishcrafters witches - which means they have the power and the obligation to grant wishes.

The town was created as a tourist destination to hide witchcraft. Part of the rules for Wishcrafters witches is complete secrecy. They can only tell another crafter of their secret.

Darcy's still learning the rules of her trade. She's still getting used to the town and the people. When a well known woman turns up murdered and her grandmother's boyfriend the main suspect, she dives into the deep end with an investigation.

Will she lose her craft through her lack of craft knowledge or her life from her lack of knowledge about the town and it's people?

My Thoughts: First in an new fun series with magic, romance, action, job issues, and family drama. I loved the twist at the end - I didn't see that coming, but it was so sweet. I love the small town feel. I love the secrets uncovered as Darcy and her sister get to know the townspeople. So looking forward to more in this series!

Cover Thoughts: Cute - love the swirls and the sparkle

Mysterious Saturday Review: Absolutely, Positively

Lucy Valentine works for the family business of match-making. Their business is quite successful because of their ability to see auras and match people accordingly. Lucy no longer has this talent.

Instead, she has the ability to find lost objects. She's started a new branch of the company, looking for lost loves. She works with her P.I. boyfriend to help track down and reunite people.

She's working for a client who's searching for a long lost love from her childhood. They were in a foster home together. Lucy begins tracking down the man's whereabouts only to discover his shady past. She's not sure if she should continue her investigation.

Lucy's also wrestling with another case - as a favor to her grandmother. She's dealing with the reuniting of her parents, her constant worry that someone will uncover her family's secret, and hoping to overcome the family love curse.

My Thoughts: I love this series. I love Lucy - for her sense of loyalty, her spunk, and her unique qualities. I love her boyfriend - he's quite dreamy. I love the family secret. I love the secondary cast of characters. In short - I don't think there's anything about this series that I don't love.

As to this mystery: I liked the potential relationship that Meghan and Tristan lost and how Meghan's determined to rekindle it. I love this difference in the series - how Lucy uses her powers to aid the police in investigations, but also in finding lost loves. I liked Emily's progress in her relationship. I loved the ending. I do hope there are more in the series!!!

Cover Thoughts: Cute!

Mysterious Saturday Review: Deeply Desperately

Lucy Valentine works in the family business of matchmaking. Although she doesn't have the family touch of reading auras. Instead she can find lost/missing people. At the moment, the police need her help with a case.

They're looking for a mother of two who has gone mysteriously missing. No body has surfaced. The police and public opinion believe her husband is the culprit. Lucy works to unravel the mystery through a bracelet.

In her matchmaking business, she's working in uncover a long lost love. A man's searching for a woman he met before deployment.

A reporter's shadowing Lucy through her transactions. While she's asking questions about the process of finding things, she's also asking some very personal questions. Lucy has a feeling she might be trying to uncover something about her family, but she's not sure what that might be.

With all her different cases, she still have time for her budding relationship with Sean. However, just as things start to heat up, something inevitably happens. Lucy blames this on the Valentine curse - where her family can never be happy in love. Neither of them want to give up, but when Sean's ex-girlfriend comes into the picture, trouble rears it's ugly head.

My Thoughts: I adore this new series. This is the 2nd book of Lucy Valentine and her adventures. I find her refreshing. She speaks the truth. She's loyal, hard-working, sassy, and fun. I loved her times with Preston. I'm eager for the next installment.

Cover Thoughts: It's cute but the story takes place right before the holidays and there's nothing to indicate this time of year. It looks more like a summer read than a winter cozy.

Mysterious Saturday Review: Truly Madly

Lucy's father has a talent that's shared by blood relatives - except for Lucy since she had an accident. Instead of seeing love matches through auras, she can find lost objects. When her father's caught having an affair, things heat up for the family business. Mr. and Mrs. Valentine head off for a tropical vacation, leaving Lucy in charge of the business. Lucy's never wanted to run the business, especially since she doesn't have the same gifts. In meeting with a client, she discovers a missing item of his is on a dead women buried in the park. With the help of the young private investigator who works upstairs, she uncovers the body and uncovers a whole web of lies to untangle. Can she find the murderer before the police go after her or her client?

My Thoughts: An excellent start to a new series filled with paranormal elements, romance, and mystery. I loved Lucy - she's quirky, fun, and wildly entertaining. I can't wait to read more about her.

The Cover: I like the open door, it's extremely inviting and the heart vines are adorable.
