TV Season Review: Bridgerton Season

Having read the books 10+ years ago, I don't remember most of the details, but I LOVED them. 

I do think the show captures those feelings!

Things I Loved:

Polin

The moments between Penelope and her mother

The final ball  

Release the Bugs!

Eloise and Pen making up

Dowager Bridgerton and Lady Danbury

Francesca and John

Penelope and Madame Delacroix 

Benedict and Eloise moments - especially on the swings

the fight over the macarons 

Things I Wished:

That Colin wasn't so annoying over Lady Whistledown discovery and that he asked Penelope to give it up

More Polin scenes (less angry scenes)

I wished we saw more of Colin falling in Love

More scenes between Penelope and the Bridgertons

The mentioned why Daphne wasn't at either wedding

Kate and Antony's trip to India seemed strange

I didn't mind how Lady Whistledown ended - because I feel that Penelope will still be writing.  And that will be shown in the next series.

Overall, I really enjoyed the show. I hated that they split up the season. It's annoying.
I'm also not crazy about waiting 2 years for the next season. It's only 8 episodes. 

TV Review: The After Party

The Afterparty from Apple +: Season 1

It's a high school reunion - and then the after party. Someone famous dies at the after party. The cops show up and determine it's murder. The detective has only hours to solve the case before it's turned over to someone else. She makes good use of her time interviewing key suspects about the events of the entire night.

Each episode is a different character's version of the night. 

The characters are great. The show has funny moments. I loved the songs. 

It also made me never want to go to a high school reunion (not that I wanted to).

It had some sad moments but also some inspiring ones too. 

I'm so looking forward to the next season, which is out now.

If you've a fan of Knives Out, don't miss this one. 

TV Review: The Diplomat

Keri Russell stars as the wife of a wife and husband political power team (of sorts). It's been her husband in the limelight with her behind the scenes. Now, the roles have switched. The President asks her to be an ambassador in England - but she prepped for a very different type of post.

I really liked it, but I did have some thoughts:

I hated her husband - I can't tell if I'm supposed actually root for them or not. But he's terrible.

I love how she only wants to wear suits - and black ones.

She's smart and determined.

I loved the scenery.

I hated the ending - it does end on a cliff hanger (Which is fine) but I wish there had been more answers. I'm just happy there is another season coming!

TV Review: Cruel Summer

We just watched the first season of this show - and it was really interesting.

It is disturbing - on many levels.

There's drama - so much drama

friendship

family

relationship

There are some sweet moments

There are disturbing moments

There are plot twists and turns

I didn't like most of the characters and wasn't sure if you were supposed to root for any of them

I did like how it took place in three different timelines and how they went back and forth - especially the lighting in each

I love that it took place in the 90s 

If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it.

And the second season just dropped earlier this week. 

TV Review: Truth Be Told

 

We came across TRUTH BE TOLD - which has two seasons out on Apple + TV.

I hadn't heard of it. I'm a fan of Octavia Spencer. I was also curious about the second season which features Kate Hudson, so we started the first season.

It's about a woman, Poppy, who's articles helped put away a 17-year-old boy for murder. She's questioning his guilt now. The articles on the murder helped make her career - but was she right. There are lots of holes in the stories of everyone involved that night. As Poppy begins to dig into her investigation for her podcast, secrets start coming forth...

This was a great show. I felt for the first half, I knew what was going on. And then the plot twists started coming. I kept trying to figure it all out. The characters were not likable - I didn't really root for any of them, but they were intriguing.  And I needed to know what happened. 

I'm eagerly awaiting the next season.
