High Treason

Sometimes, it's good to be a rebel. A little something from one of my favorite movies...

Enjoy Independence Day but take a moment to think about the history of the day while you're gathering with family and friends. I'm headed to a lobster roll cookout with my sister!

Have a safe and happy holiday!

Changing Tides

So I heard about these and finally tracked the first book down. I LOVE the National Treasure movies. Which of course, made me curious about the books once I heard about them. Changing Tides first begins in London with Samuel Gates (relative of the later Benjamin Gates). A family scandal causes Sam and his brother William to travel to the New World and make their fortune in Jamestown. On the boat there, an elderly gentleman confides in Sam about a clue his cousin left for him describing a treasure. When the man dies, Sam takes it upon himself to uncover the clues. Unfortunately, he's not the only one with the knowledge. There was another man on the ship who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the treasure first. Now Sam is trying to make his way in the New World as an apprentice, looking for clues, and meeting new people - including the natives. Will he find the treasure before danger gets too close to him?
