Mary Blair worked for Disney - at a time when not many women did. She's responsible for the creation of the It's a Small World ride.

This picture book biography talks about her working on movies like Dumbo and Lady and the Tramp. She left Disney, but ended up traveling with Walt Disney and the company on a trip to South America. I love that the trip inspired her creativity, her use of colors, and opened her eyes to power of possibilities. I love that the children influenced her. A really great book about believing in magic, the inspiration of art, and colors. I loved the art work and how the illustrator was inspired by Mary Blair.

Tween Tuesday Mini Review: Convergence

The Plot:
On a field trip to a museum in China, Steven hears strange noises. When he goes to investigate, he accidentally gains the zodiac power of the Tiger. Now Steven finds himself in the middle of a war between good and evil. Evil of course wants world domination. Good wants to stop Maxwell and his gang. Not everything is black and white.
The Good:
* Lots of Action
* Diverse Characters
* Superhuman powers (perfect for summer reading)
* Good vs Evil fight
* Illustrations
* Funny - Smart - Strong heroes and heroines
* First in a trilogy

The Bad: (minor issues)
* It's sometimes difficult to the the characters apart
* The beginning sequence of the unleashing of the Zodiac powers required multiple readings for comprehension.

Final Thoughts: Lots of action, lots of danger, and lots of plot twists make this start to a trilogy a must read for fans of action books.

Trailer Thursday: Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides

I wasn't a fan of the last two movies - but I love the humor in these films. The 4th movie looks EXCELLENT. I can't wait to see it. What do you think?

Plus, did you know there's a book coming out? It's a crossover book and it's a prequel to Jack Sparrow's days as a Pirate (sort-of). Most of the book takes place at sea. There are plenty of fights against pirates, double crossings, magic, an in-depth look at the slave trade, and a little romance. I reviewed it for VOYA. It appears as a republished book on May 20th 2011
