Picture Book Review: Diwali Books

Just a few new to the library books to celebrate Diwali:

Devi loves the celebration for Diwali - she loves her family's traditions (maybe not the cleaning part). Devi enjoys sharing knowledge about the holiday with others, seeing her friends, and eating the yummy foods. She also loves the bright colors that making everything, including herself, shine brightly.

Binny is sharing her favorite holiday with her class. But she's stuck on the words. Finally she takes a deep breath and remembers what her mother told her. The words come out; her class loves everything she shares - especially the sweet snacks. Everyone learns about the Festival of Lights.

Priya Loves Diwali, but this year, she is far away from India. But as she starts decorating, her neighbors become curious. Her family invites them to join in on the celebration. It isn't the same as home, but it's still Diwali.

Diya is going to India for Diwali to visit her grandmother. She can't wait to see everyone again; she misses them. No one in her town looks like her, but her grandmother inspires her to share her knowledge. I loved the message about having a light inside of you and believing in yourself. (I think we could all do that a little more.)
